Hmm. I wonder if that brake cleaner would work on them. The one on the right though, I wonder what model it is. It's deffinetly not an SE.

Just answered my own question. The one on the right is a Plus (looking at the Apple logo outline).

Yikes! :O

I hate to say it, but it actually kind of looks interesting.

This reminds me, I have an old SE/30 case I might paint (it wouldn't be as garish as these, though :) )

The woodgrain look, if properly done, would actually be pretty awesome. I can totally see that sitting in Hugh Hefner's study.

Makes me think of things like the flower power iMacs, and I KIND OF like it, haha! Shame we can't get repro clear outer shells and have the patterns on the inside... Maybe with a dim light shining inside. :p (It'd be an interesting way to revive compacts with bad plastic!)

There's also a red one by the same seller as the wood one.

Quick! Someone rescue all four and clean them up before someone else grabs them and doesn't know how to clean them properly!

And when someone does, please let us know. I will buy some stock in a brake fluid maker. ;)

Those were probably all part of a well-loved classroom set in some grade school. Back when they were symbols of "useless computers" worth maybe $5 each, letting the kids paint them so they were at least interesting looking was probably a brilliant idea.

I vote for marbleizing one and its set of peripherals.

Paisly comes to mind, but a Dark Helmet PLAID speed paint scheme would take the cake!

edit: Tie dye works for me as well. }:)

For some reason, while reading this topic, a PB coloured mac classic came to my mind:

I have to say, I really like it for some reason.

That's correct! The Black "Veidt" SE/30 out of Watchmen I believe. Although I don't really like the pure black color on a mac.

I also think the complexity of the SE and SE/30 models (the snow white vents in the front) look better in white. While the classic with its single groove and simpler front plastic also could have a color like gray or black.

That's because it's ultra-cool! I was thinking mineral's PoutMacClassis was looking a little barren, I'd love to see a thin "Snow White groove" routed around all four sides of a Classic with the bottom half gray and black or darker gray or, better yet a Graphite fill within the groove for a DuoDock kind of look.

I've got another case mod along those lines that I'm seriously considering, but mum's the word on that one. [}:)] ]'>
