What do you need help with, exactly? Go to the wiki and register (different user db than here, sorry). Read what the home page has to say, and the Community Portal too. There are some helpful links on those pages that probably answer your questions.

Back at it's home page, change Main_Page in the URL to What_you_want_to_call_your_article (wiki will convert spaces to underscores, so just type spaces if you want). Then click the "edit" link on the page (since it doesn't exist yet). Type your info in the textbox, and click "save".

I don't think that would be feasible. Every wiki is going to be different. There's no way you could tell if what you wrote would work for that wiki without previewing in the wiki. And if you have to do that, you might as well edit on the site too. I suppose you could copy-and-paste from a text editor...but that's an additional step, so I don't see that it makes your life easier.

yeah i've seen wiki-specific editors, but i was just curious if there was a "general purpose" one.

I believe it's shareware.

I ONLY know this because the developer ended up becoming a writer for a certain Mac magazine and covered his "early software" quite frequently in discussion.
