My Spring Conquest

Hello Fellow MLAers!

I had a great conquest this spring.

Orion selflessly provided me with more macs. (He gave me the two pluses last year). This time around, five computers, a printer, and a s***load of keyboards and mice, about 75 to be exact. So the machines, a Power Mac G3, Power Mac 7600/132, Power Mac 6500/225, Performa 6116CD, Performa 450, and a Umax 500 Clone. None of these have a Hard Drive. I am going to try and buy some. I took a picture of the lot: Link. So now that brings me up to 17 Macs, 6 are in full working order, and 1 LC Shell. The Printer is up for grabs: http://68kmla.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=5017 And I am looking to buy hard drives for these guys: http://68kmla.org/forums/viewtopic.php?p=52235

The 6500 originally came from Temetka, but it was so stained (must have been in an industrial setting at one time) that I decided to paint it. After getting it that far, I kinda wish I had gone all satin black. :/

Hope you get some good use out of the stuff. I can send you the hard drives from those machines once I get some time to wipe them (working 16 hour days sucks ballz!)

Oh, and I didn't think that I had thrown a cat in there...

Oh man, I forgot all about that 6500.

Good to see it's still in use.

It came from a client of mine who bought it brand new and used as her only machine up until a few years ago.

Hopefully orion left my repaired power supply and the 128MB of RAM in it. I hated working on that machine (hardware wise). Great sound and to be honest somehwat zippy performance from a lowly 603.

It's blue now huh? Cool.

The stains came from years of old dust and cat dander. The cat hair killed the fan in the PSU. I replaced it with a multicolored fan.

Well it was either this 6500 or another I had. I can't recall and it has been a long time.

Orion,

The 8500 you sold me is still running strong.

My favorite Beige / Platinum mac.

Thanks again.

No problem. Probably will be clearing more stuff out this summer. The 6500 I had did have the multicolored fan, however the dirt on it reminded me more of grease, oil, or metal dust. It was all black and the dirt inside was black and oily. That's why I thought it was from an industrial site or perhaps a school metal shop. Maybe not.

I could always use more RAM for the 8500 and if you have one the whole rear plastic piece. The whole piece that has those 4 screws. Not a big deal, but mine has broken retention tabs.

The machine is still running strong. Right now it has a 500MHz G3 CPU in it, a Rage128 and an ATA/133 controller card. It's fast as heck. Currently running 9.1 but I want to re-partition the drive and see if I can get a dual 7.6.1 / 9.1 system going.

Did that lot come from ebay recently? I saw a lot of Powermacs like that for sale that also had a green 7200 not long ago.

I hate to tell you this, but your 6116 seems to have a cat infestation.
Oh Dear!

Once I get the hard drives for these guys, all these computers will be used as part of a new non-profit organization my friend and I are working on.
Nice carpet funkytoad. :)
Heh, thanks.

FunkyToad - we have this type of hard drives - working pulls from systems we received as parts - if you have not yet found the drives you were looking for earlier, send me a message
