ok, Now I got myself in a conundrum.

After flashing the ROMs, I checked to make sure everything was good and suddenly realized the reads arnt matching back to the PLCC read. The PLCC is the original V2.6 ROM.

So I am reading it again, and it reads different every time with corruption. my Willem board is a PCB45 and I cannot find how to change the 27C256 from DIP to PLCC since the PLCC socket is on board.

in DIP mode, I can UV erase and write the DIP with a known good BIN from something else, and its ok. but my PLCC reads are not, so that means I dont have a good copy of the ROM.

So if anyone is familiar with the PCB45 and knows how to set it in PLCC mode, Or if someone has a copy of the ROM BIN please message me! I would like to get these reflashed with a known good copy of the ROM and get them out the door.

Thanks.

Well that stinks for now ><

I managed to trim off the back half inch of this iisi card where theres empty space for the screw whole so the case will just fit on my se30 with this card in it for now. that seemed to be a popular hacking option XD

I think I'll get one of those plcc32t to dip28 adapters as well, just to see if it fixes my problem. If it does, we'll have to troubleshoot techknight's ROM programmer.

the PLCC32 section on my programmer is screwed.

If I had a PLCC32 to DIP28 myself, I could avert the whole issue.

I have GREAT NEWS.

papa_november replied to my PM today. He sent me his IIsi Pivot v2.6 ROM image, the one that is known to fix a lot of issues. It fixed his IIci, maybe it can fix our SE/30s?

techknight, here's the image Radius Pivot (632-0070).zip

So we don't need the PLCC32 section of your ROM Programmer anymore, right?

Maybe this time round, the checksums will match up!

Hey I took a break from my mac for some time while I was selling house and moving its been packed up, and sorry when I logged into this site to check once in a while I never saw any notifications of any posts on any topics so I thought this was a dead end for some reason...

Did you actually get the new ROM to work on a new chip?

I'll be pulling out my good ol mac again soon, i still have the iisi card jammed in there I would like to finally finish the original se/30 radius card. Also this iisi has the 2.5 version rom on it if you ever wanted that for the archives as well =) I just have no hardware to do it.

Well, I either have bad chips or a bad programmer but it craps out at Address $06 with EE in the chip and E6 in the PROM.

Nothing I do corrects it.

Oh well, I tried.

Ah of course I see this now after responding to the PM. hahaha figures. Maybe one day I can get or find someone with a programmer so I can write a rom chip.

Thanks for trying! again!

Yea, I need to find a good ROM burner. Apparently my Sivava/Willem PCB4.5 cant handle the M27C256B

So, I can try a 512 if I can find one, or find another programmer.

I only have a few things with a parallel port, so I tried my Compaq LTE, and then my Presario K6-2. both machines will read them fine.

Well since we had trouble writing new(old) rom chips and had my mac packed away for some time now, instead of trying to find more chips or a programmer I scored a Nubus card for 20 bucks on ebay with what looks like v2.6 chip on it. Hopefully it works okay and can just swap the rom chip with the v1.0 on the SE/30 radius card for now. If that doesn't work I will look for other chips etc. =)

even if not i still have the iisi card jammed in there

I'm glad we have the rom's uploaded for people to update their cards too!

looking forward to getting out my good ol mac again!

I doubt it was that simple, the only jumpers on the board are to select the pds address for the card in case other pds cards use set address, and did not effect the problem either way the mouse freezing Only in 32bit mode Only on the pivot connected screen instantly as it boots. Also the IIsi cards already came with the v2.6 rom (as far as i know) and the problem was with the rom definitely my 030 card was v1.0 lol

This problem did not even happen once with the IIsi card with the updated rom.

I posted in my se30 thread that I got a nubus card with the v2.6 rom chip real cheap and just swapped the chip on the 030 card and it works great now!! =D

I would have gotten more chips to try but this was easier cheaper and faster.

Thanks to all yous that helped figure this out and ripped the newer roms on file for everyone to updated their cards too =)

How do you find the Dimo 30 card? Does it run hot? Can you run a temperature  guage programme in an SE/30 like my xserve?

I got lucky with the diimo030 card on ebay very pricey.. I don't think it gets too hot at all i never checked, I do now have an optical/laser thermometer I can use to actually test it... one day when i have time to get it out and play with the se30 again.

I don't think they had temperature programs back then like they do now, I don't think there's an internal thermometer in these old cpu's
