Making a VNC server for A/UX

I will, I just had to swap everything back from the 475.. And the memory test with 68MB takes some time 😅

It does, doesn't it! I just upgraded the RA/UXmount 650 to 68MB earlier, and it's ... noticeably slower to boot now. Which is mildly annoying...

My Quadra 700 was already maxed out when I bought it as a kid in the late 2000's at the Basel flea market (for CHF 10!). When I first booted it, I was a bit worried because the screen stayed black for so long...!

Yes. It's based on "AUX_3_1_1GB_Use_In_Shoebill.zip" from Macintoshgarden and running on a RaSCSI. Bildschirmfoto 2022-12-24 um 01.40.09.png

Great, thanks. That sounds like I'm going to have to do some proper debugging. That'll be a post-Christmas thing, then...

Did some more testing: Everything <= 8bit works in 640x480, even depth switching. Changing to 24bit causes the vncd to crash. Using the remote keyboard works. Pressing the remote mouse button causes the full Unix to crash.

Pressing the remote mouse button causes the full Unix to crash.

I've tried reproducing this in QEMU with the image from the Garden you mentioned above and can't replicate the crash, so it's either something 700-specific or something in your installation. Is it possible for you to send me the precise image you're using? (When you have time, of course).

I think I found this bug: I had mistyped a kernel variable, leading to a crash that was link-order dependent (!!).

Here's a revised version of the kernel module.
