MacMPI for speeding up Classic Macs

So a long time ago I looked into Mac MPI / LaunchDen Mother&Puppy but never really did anything with it.

Recently I was racking my brain trying to remember what it was called without much success. But today I remembered I had the software downloaded somewhere and burned to a CD. Turns out I was right! And thankfully the website linked from the readme on the CD has been archived:

I'm not sure I have the knowledge to do it, but I thought I'd document the idea here and if someone in the future feels like playing with this that would be very cool. Since it uses AppleTalk I'd imagine running something on a modern Linux computer (honestly, even a Raspberry Pi would do!) alongside netatalk could likely help speed up tasks like file decompression, image decoding, javascrpt in web pages...

Of course hacking apart a program to make it "two part" is basically impossible, so this is only likely possible with things we have the source code for (or things implemented from scratch) so I don't think we're likely to see a 2-part Stuffit Expander anytime soon, but I suppose hacking up Classilla may be possible...
