Ok, took a chance on a cheap lc.. it was pretty dirty and recap was needed. Cleaned up well, check what i could for traces and such. It turned on before recap, chimed but immediately slow death chimes. After recap, nothing had changed. Any thing to look for on these? Rom, memory, vram, egret?

Ok, definitely found a bad trace. Now Chimes, and gets to grey screen but no mouse cursor or floppy icon. Imagine probably another trace issue or is that a rom issue?

Grey screen without cursor or floppy icon usually points to a bad trace going to the SCSI controller (or the Combo chip in the case of the LC).

Well, believe it or not, fixed bad trace to rom. Fixed chime. So she chimes but grey screen. Thanks to another forum thread, i found out that bad vram can give grey screen. Yup! Different vram, she works like a top now:)

Tried booting up this morning and got the same problem; First a chime, then a gray screen, then nothing else, and no mouse pointer or keyboard lights. Is there an easy way to if I have a bad vram module without having a good one to test with?

No, unfortunately you need a good vram. What i would try is new pram battery, remove all memory / vram modules and take cute tip with some isopropyl alcohol and clean contacts of memory and vram and then reinstall.
