The Mach V CPUs don't work in any other Mac other than 250, 300 and 350 MHz 8600 and 9600s

I think he wants to put the entire mobo into the new case, not only the cpu.

BTW quadraman why do you want to do so? the 9500 cases are a pain to work on.

Because a 9500 case is what I have for swapping.

Having had a 9500 and 9600 mobo next to each other only a few months ago, I can tell you that it'll fit, but it won't be an exact swap.

The reset button is different, and the SCSI, floppy, power, et c connectors are facing the wrong direction. One of them has them paralell to the board and the other has them perpendicular.

Have you thought about moving the power supply? The Mach Vs were power hungry. I have a 9600/300* with a 560W power supply.

* For sale...man I need to get around to posting these things in the for sale section. Too many places to post...

Good point...I don't see any reason why the mobo shouldn't fit (with some mods to attach it), but the 9600 power supply is probably huge...will it fit?

I have had a 8500 and a 9500, and I currently have an 8600, which is the same case as the 9600. The 8600 is wide (wiiide) compared to the 9500...I wonder if it is to fit in the power supply...

Anyway, let us know. I loved the 9500's form factor. They were a pain in the ass to get into, especially the first time, but after you connected and unconnected everything a couple of times, and cut your fingers enough to build up callouses (warning-->do not splash blood on the mobo) it was easy. Heck, I can still do it in my sleep, now, if I had to.

Yes, you need to post it. Philly isn't so far that I wouldn't consider making a road trip for the right stuff.
