Mac Plus/Rominator/MacPaint 1.3 issue

Hey guys. I am trying to get Mac Paint to run off of the Rominator I I installed on my Mac Plus. 1.0 complained that it didn't have enough memory. I decided to try MacPaint 1.3. That seems to launch but I get the message "MacPaint can't ind work space on the deault drive". Not sure what this means. Is the problem that there isn't enough space on the ROM drive or that it's not writable? Any work arounds? I guess I can run it off my floppy emu but I really wanted it to load with the Rominator.

I think, but might be wrong, that some early versions of MacPaint are funny with which OS version you use them with. Which version of Mac OS are you running on the Plus?

I might be misunderstanding what you're trying to do, but I think its pretty safe to say MacPaint 1.0 and 1.3 pre-date bootable ROMs and were never designed to run in that scenario, probably explaining the situation you've got there.

Any reason you're trying to do it this way? MacPaint is not demanding enough to need to be run from a ROM disk, doubt you'd get any speed benefit.

Have you got any kind of bootable SCSI drive hooked up to your Plus? That's where you should run MacPaint from.

Yes, I got it to work with my BlueSCSI. I was trying to think of apps to put in the ROM disk and that seemed like a good one. I just thought it would be cool to be able to run on startup. But alas, I guess not. MacWrite works no problem. I haven't had a lot of success with games as the ROM disk isn't large enough to house anything substantial.

Yes that’s what I suspected but since I’m a noob I wanted someone more knowledgeable to confirm. Thank you!
