I dug a Mac Plus out of the closet but the floppy drive wasn't reading a disk or ejecting for me. I disassembled the floppy drive for a clean & lub but got exactly the same behavior after I put it back in. I'll spare you a description of the noises it makes but post the link to a short vid with sound. I turn it on, get the question mark, insert a known bootable disk, get the X, but can only eject manually. I cleaned the R/W head and gears in the eject mechanism are intact. I didn't, however, remove the gears for clean & lub but will disassemble & give that a shot. Might the failure to read be an issue that requires recapping? I didn't look at caps while I had it apart but will give them a look. Perhaps the sound in the link vid will trigger an "aha" moment for someone. Thanks.
