Mac Plus address error

Hey guys. My Mac Plus has started failing to boot. I get an address error.

Right now I have 4MB RAM and I have a Rominator installed on the logic board.

If I try to boot from the Rominator, it just gives me a floppy disk with a question mark. If I try to boot from a 6.0.8 disk on my floppy emu, I get address error.

I have tried reseating Rominator, reseating ram, and I checked all the Rominator connections to the logic board for continuity and they’re all good. I’m going to try to flash a new system to Rominator but haven’t gotten there yet.

Does this point to a likely RAM issue?

Looks likely, but before you replace it... Try cleaning the RAM contacts using a cotton bud and contact cleaner, multiple times if needed, and spray contact cleaner in the RAM slots. Spray some in the ROM sockets while you're at it - does the Plus ROMinator disable the RAM test and ROM checksum? It might be masking issues. Try the stock ROM.

Another thing is that a contact in the RAM slot might be bent, do any look bad?

I dont know the history of your Mac plus and what you’ve done with it, but some of the SEs and Pluses I’ve repaired gm have had address errors have come from a broken solder joint somewhere on the analog board. So if cleaning and reseating ram does not work I’d also suggest checking solder joints on the analog board. I had an SE that looked like new, but there were micro cracks that the eye would not see. After reflowing/refreshing the analog board the machine worked flawlessly.
But again, I don’t know what you have done with your machine prior. So this might be kicking down open doors :)
