• Updated 2023-07-12: Hello, Guest! Welcome back, and be sure to check out this follow-up post about our outage a week or so ago.

Look what I have found in auction: Apple Workgroup Server 9150/120 with CD-ROM too!

The link is below and it is in excellent condition.
I've put a bid in and hopefully I'll be lucky. I don't actually have it yet.
If there is anybody from Switzerland who is thinking of bidding for it, contact me privately by PM and I'll let you know what my high-bid is.
The current owner is afraid to turn it on, so it may be damaged internally, but I'll take the risk on it.

Odd I was under the impression the 5 drive tray was standard on a 9150 and this one is missing it (using the standard 950 drive bays).

Possibly one of the most actually rare machines/cases. I thought I knew pretty much all of the Macs back the day (1990s) when I got into it but I somehow missed this one until I got back into it several years ago!

@PowerMac_G4 I did win it and together with the train fare to go collect it, it will have cost the equivalent of $95.
Now I have to figure out what it is I'm going to say to @MarNo84. He asked me to bid for him and I only saw it after I had won the auction.
It is a beautiful machine, isn't it?

To be fair, @slomacuser, you have been very generous to me & the community in the past to me and I shouldn't turn down your hint.
Still, it's too nice to part out, even if the motherboard should prove to be unrecoverable. If I ever do decide to part with it, I'll be giving @MarNo84 first refusal.

You're too kind ArmorAlley - if you like it keep it - you'll never see another one

@ArmorAlley I too hope that it works properly. However, if you find the motherboard unrecoverable, I have a use for the FAT AMIC chip from a 9150. So don't throw away the motherboard, even if it is bad.

It won't be thrown away. If the machine doesn't start up, I'll post a high-res. picture of the motherboard for all to see in case it may be repairable.

If it doesn't boot or work (wich we all hope it doesn't happen) I'm serious about buying that bezel from you. I have yet to try 3d printing, but original is allways better by far. Keep us updated on the things you may find in the drive when you boot it. My Quadra came with some old school newspapers articles and a helluva fonts.

Nice. I don't have the tape drive for either of mine, sadly. I still don't understand why these weren't sold as the Power Macintosh 9100. Yet another dumb move from mid-90s Apple as the WGS 9150/120 is unquestionably the most powerful NuBus PPC machine ever made.
Anyway if it won't boot make sure there's something (either a card or a terminator) in the PDS. And try a new power supply. A leaked battery shouldn't damage too much on these logic boards since so much of it near the battery is empty space.
