I finally got my Wallstreet all set up exactly how I wanted it; negotiated with the seller for a working battery and found a cheap wireless card to stick in it. All was peachy. Then suddenly today it stopped working! Gordon Bennett!!
It’s always had an annoying habit of taking 10 seconds to do anything when you turn it on, i.e. startup sound, 10 seconds of black then screen and startup. Then I noticed it wouldn’t wake up from sleep sometimes, and you had to press command-control-start to reset it. Fine I thought, I’ll shut it down instead of putting it to sleep. So I did that, and still it wouldn’t start up today from batteries, no matter what I tried. I took it back to the office and plugged it in. It immediately whirred and the power light came on, then after about 10 seconds began to start up then gave me a bomb with a bus error. The trackpad wouldn't work so I restarted from the keyboard and after another 10 second delay it started up properly but somehow it had disrupted the space-time continuum and taken me back in time to 3am on 1 January 1901*. Oddly though, none of the other clocks in the building have been altered and 1901 seems exactly the same as 2007. Perhaps it has somehow transported itself into a parallel universe that is 106 years behind us, but somehow has left behind its essence in our own time?
Anyway, any thoughts as to what the blazes is going on and what, if anything, I can do about it?
*Heh, I drafted this post in word and it highlighted that date and invited me to schedule a meeting.
