I'm curious about this. It's a 180, the seller doesn't list what System it's running but it's got to be some variant of 7. There some utility that allowed you to replace the "MacOS" screen with whatever you wanted?

The screen is cool...

Or just put a PICT in the system folder and call it 'StartupScreen'. I assume that is what was done here since there is no progress bar, something lost when doing this. Also you can use a movie file and have it play a movie - but I think that pauses booting until its done playing.

JP - I remember it well. I did much JP customization at one time. I even made the entire helicopter fly in sequence in hypercard. Frame by frame drawn from scratch.

It was a popular movie, good for techies too.

The one I had was accurate to the movie, but not appealing, it pixelated badly even at 832x634. Found a better one that scaled more cleanly (not perfectly).

I'm not going there.

Now I need some SGI hardware... :D and a Thinking Machines supercomputer, of course.

Probably should get a house first though.

So here's something interesting. I was watching some of the computer room sequences again.

There's like a Quadra by every workstation. Even if it's running an SGI system on screen. :)

Also, in one scene, during one frame a Quadra appears to be standing on its front. When the camera pans in you can see it's got the lid and everything.

The next little bit, same scene but from the other side, it's upright and sitting proper again.

Did they think people would be distracted by seeing the port/fan/slot area of a Quadra?

Now we just need a replicated Jurassic park app along with the failures and security lockouts that will actually run on the Quadra itself.

Nothing more fitting

I was hoping one had been made, lol.

At any rate, I bought the PowerBook in question this morning, looking forward to getting my hands on it.

I bet a nice Hypercard stack could easily be made for the Jurassic Park control system.

As for why it was flipped, I bet it was for cables and such or back side ugliness.
