I have been doing some dev on my Plus recently, with 6.0.8. One thing I miss is a DragThing type dock, or any kind of customizable launcher for my favorite apps. There are lots of choices for 7.5+, and I think even for 7.1, but I haven't found much for 6. I came across this reference to Now Utilities 2.0 when searching:

http://preserve.mactech.com/articles/mactech/Vol.07/07.02/EasyLife/index.html

• MultiMaster™: This INIT provides an instant pop up or pull down menu to launch files and applications. A pull down menu (similar to On-Que™) can be configured so you don’t have to search through multi-levels of folders to find files or applications that you use frequently. You can use the Memory Sizer option to edit an application’s default memory size. This is quicker than opening up “Get Info” window to change each application. Since memory size is usually something that is set only once or only occasionally, the Memory Sizer won’t be that important.

I can't find anything about "multiMaster" at all. You can find Now Utilities 3.0 at Macintosh Garden/etc, but not 2.0.

I found an interesting tidbit here in a readme from a Newton app:

http://web.mit.edu/kolya/.f/root/athena.mit.edu/net/software/newton/utilities/X-MASTER/X-MASTER

X-Master is a Newton utility which allows you to quickly and easily launch
applets, books, and built-in functions without ever opening the Extras drawer.
It is unobtrusive and simple to use. X-Master's basic design is similar to
launching utilities such as Now Utilities NowMenusª for the Macintosh which
provides a popdown list of applications and documents to open.

<snip>

HISTORY: As noted above, the inspiration for X-Master was from various launching
utilities for the Macintosh. Since I was the original author of MultiMaster, a
launching utility published as part of Now Utilities 2.0x and 3.0x (and now
incorporated into NowMenus of NU 4.0x), it wasn't too great a leap to put
together something similar when I decided to learn how to program for the Newton
platform. I hope that you will find this little hack useful!

Does anyone have any screenshots or reviews of MultiMaster? I found a few old articles mostly discussing how buggy Now Utilities 3.0 was, but that's about it. It's hard to search for because "multimaster" is apparently also the name of something to do with Active Directory, so all the search hits tend to go there.

UPDATE: I found some more links:

I'm trying out "On Cue" right now, which so far seems very promising (especially like the CMD-` to switch apps!).

Oops. I meant to fill in "multiMaster" in the topic name, but forgot. Not the greatest subject line in the world.
