iMac G3 350 not booting

Hi,
I recently got a blue iMac G3 with a slot loading CD drive from my grandad. It's been sat in his shed for over a decade and no longer works.
The mac powers on, the green power light comes on and the chime plays, however the display does not light up and the computer shuts itself off after about 15 seconds. i attempted resetting the pram but it doesn't respond to it, i replaced the pram battery too and nothing changed. sometimes the screen flickers slightly on startup but not much else. the hard drive and CD drive also power up but i suspect the HDD no longer works from the clicking it makes.
this is the first mac i've owned so am not 100% sure with maintenance or what to do.

Bad analog board. Unfortunately, this is commonplace with the slot loading iMacs. Maybe you should try to replace capacitors if possible...

Thank you for the reply, i will try taking it apart more to see how the board looks. I don't know if it'l be worth saving though even if i can

Honestly, those slot loaders can be as fragile as an egg shell. Hopefully you can get it back together after you take it apart...

Hi! I've got the exact same iMac Blueberry and the exact same problem. I've just disassembled mine and I've seen the 470uf 400v cap bulging. I'll try to replace it and see if it makes some difference.

By the way, be very careful when dissassembling because the beige frame is very, very brittle.

By the way, this was not it. The behavior after changing this capacitor is exactly the same. Anyone has had this happen on his G3?

Upon further investigation I've found another thread on this forum that solves a very similar issue just by letting it plugged in for awhile before starting it. Will try..
