Was looking for some info. on linux for "old world" macs... Found Classilla..

Then found this place!

Posting right now wirelessly on my powerbook 1400, which I haven't used in a few years!!

OS9.1 and Classilla.... How Kool!

I am cheating a bit... in that this 1400 has a sonnet 466, or whatever it was, upgrade cpu into it.Our business has used Macs since Founded in 1985, so there are lots.... and Lots, of Macs around here. Kinda nice to dust some of 'em off once in awhile....

Just intro-ing myself, I really probably won't post much... But you can be sure I am paying attention.

Glad you folks are here!!!

No cheating at all. My 1400 also has a 466 in it. I know people who use Classilla on 603 1400s, and I salute them, but I couldn't imagine my little gem without a G3.

Welcome, new chum!

I also vote for the Crescendo PB G3/466, it makes "Beater" a LOT faster, even under OS9! }:)

Gotta dust her off and play a little now that I've got WiFi at home! [:D] ]'>

Thanks for the welcome folks...

This ole 1400 has done alot of real service in it's day. We tend to use our equipment well past when others have "upgraded"... jeeze we still need classic because I refuse to spend [even more] $ on Filemaker Pro versions , when 5 is working rather well indeed Thank You, Especially when we started at 1.0...

I don't know what we are gonna do now that it appears that 10.4 ain't even going to be supported anymore!!!

If I buy an Intel anything, It will certainly have Linux on it.... And Nothing Else!

Sorry.... Rant Over

RP

BTW Whatever happened to OS9 Forever??

Did Forever get here whilst I wasn't Lookin' ???

Yeah, my first G3 was a NewerTech Nupowr card for my 6100. I still power it up once in a while. Lots of good memories with that one.

The NuPowr G3 250Mhz card runs very nice in my 6100. :D Although it turns out you need a working battery in order for the L2 cache to be enabled. :p

With the G3 card it handles Mac OS 9.1 with ease, I also happen to have an Apple HPV card from a 7100 so I can get a nice big screen resolution. :D
