Huge Haul of 68Ks

Wouldn't be surprised about the garden theory. There was a guy around here who used Classics and SEs as lawn ornaments and planters. I have photos somewhere but have to find them (a friend took them for me and they're actual prints, not digital).

The IIvx photos will have to wait until tomorrow. I did get the PRAM battery for it today so I'll likely snap that in while I'm at it. Still need two more for some other Macs.

I now have a picture of the IIvx post-bath. However, I am moving it into storage for the time being simply because I'm running out of room! It's a likely candidate to move into a server role for the compacts I'm also storing and saving for future use as educational tools (alternately I could use the LCII in that role and keep the VX around for student use).

I set the Q700 up two nights ago. Despite the huge 1GB hard drive inside it, I decided to go with my trusty old 80MB ProDrive LPS, which I had formerly used in an external enclosure with a Plus (the Plus I used to write a 70+ page novel for Retrochallenge a few years ago). The drive inside was somewhat strange--it had a SCSI selector connected to its pins and was set to an ID of 3. I'll photograph that one too; I've never seen such a thing. This would be a good candidate to put inside that quirky enclosure I pulled the 80MB ProDrive from, as the SCSI selector in that box doesn't work. (It's an old 20SC case, for the record; the original drive died long ago). I may use it as an external for the Q700. I'll use the new monitor on its way with the IIvx or some other machine, as I just set up my old MCD with the Q700. Due to space restrictions, I had to use a short keyboard.

The big reason I chose the Q700 to use is because of its built-in Ethernet. I have an AAUI adapter and wish to use the 700 as a bridge between my LocalTalk Macs and an old LocalTalk-only LaserWriter and a currently printer-less iMac.

I may test the Centrii and other new machines tonight. This also gives me a good excuse to test those extra ProDrives I have, as there's an LCIII there too (one of the easiest machines to swap drives in). Most of those will probably become available soon if anyone's interested. I'll be sure to post the specs once I find out what I have.

Next up--re-capping my IIci. Anyone have a guide for this?
