Help with Se/30 Adapter Card Settings/Documentation

Can anyone help with some details around the jumper settings on these two cards? One is a Bolle and one is an original unbranded card. There appear to be multiple places on each to specify Diimo or Daystar for the CS - and the original appears to have a whole chip to switch at C1? I'm somewhat clear on the Bolle card but I only have Daystar and Sonnet cards so I'd like to configure them correctly. I couldn't find any documentation on either... Anyway, thanks in advance.

Those are both different versions of my "MacCon Topper" adapters. They both need a MacCon with PDS passthrough to be modified with a right angle connector so they can sit on top of it.

The bottom one is the very first adapter I built. The second set of options labeled "Daystar" will route all signals the way they are on the Daystar IIsi adapter, the "Diimo" option basically routes everything the way it is on the Diimo SE/30 adapter. The two options basically just were there to make development and testing easier.
There's no point to change any settings on that one, both options will basically work just the same except that the Daystar configuration was having problems with certain cards added on the top PDS passthrough while the Diimo option was fine with them. That's also the reason the Diimo setup was chosen to be shipped on all those cards.
It supports the IIci Diimo, P33/P34 PowerCache and Turbo040.

The top one is a newer version that adds support for the Carrera. It's an earlier version that does not automatically detect when a Carrera is used so you have to tell it with the "Carrera" jumper. Jumper in = Carrera has to be installed, Jumper out = either IIci Diimo, PowerCache or Turbo040 have to be installed.

None of them supports the Sonnet 040 accelerator.

Ah thanks! I appreciate the info - do you have a sense of which adapters support the Sonnet accelerators. I have several different se/30 risers and adapters - just not sure I want to randomly try them all out w the Sonnet 040. Anyway - thank you.

None of them. The Sonnet driver is not compatible with any GLUE based machines - that includes the II, IIx, IIcx and SE/30.

I have an SE/30 with Bolle's combo adaptor and (drumroll please) an Xceed with grayscale adaptor I assembled using Bolle's GERBER files. I tried attaching a Diimo 030 50MHz powercache via the PDS slot and, while the accelerator did work, it seemed to disable the Xceed card. The display reported as the default SE/30 built-in display only. Should I try adjusting the jumpers on the combo card? Could this by a driver issue? Anyone have any ideas?

Where does the combo card enter the equation? It sounds like you have LB pds - diimo - xceed which should be fine.

The diimo should definitely be the first card in the pds slot with any additional cards on top of it

I have a Mac CI PDS version of the Diimo card. Not the SE/30 version. It attached to the combo card and is on Bolle’s list of known good cards. The Xceed is the new element in the equation.

Oh, right. I forgot about that. The diimo is absolutely compatible with the Xceed, so that should be fine.

Does the xceed work on top of the combo adapter without the diimo present?

Yes. It works perfectly. It also coexists with Bolles 040 card although it doesn’t really work (still hoping a new rom is released for xceed)

For the latter piece, I've got buildable source up for it on github - feel free to have a whack.

Definitely sounds like the you may have an issue with the adapter. Maybe post a picture of it so @Bolle can see which revision it is.
Ok here are pics of cards and tattletech PDS slot report with Diimo and Xceed in. Note this is with combo card set to 0B. When set to any other setting the system won’t boot (error chime)

The Diimo does need special treatment of /STERM which as far as I know Bolle's adapter incorporates the logic for.
The Xceed exclusively uses synchronous bus cycles (terminated by /STERM) and won't work without them. I was playing around with the /STERM delay logic on my clone and if the delay was not enough, the xceed card wouldn't work.

This all seems to hang together as a potential cause, but doesn't really lead to any troubleshooting steps. I think Bolle's adapter autoodetects the adapter type and applies whichever tweaks are needed to make it happy (clock inversion for carrera, /sterm stuff for diimo, etc) .... no jumpers. But I don't know for sure.

I didn’t realize it was that involved. The Diimo does seem to disable the xceed and the system ignores it completely passing the “built in display” data to the crt.

Update:
I got a hold of a Daystar 50MHz 68030 Powercache card and it seems to work as expected and plays nice in the SE/30 with the Xceed and with @Bolle’s adaptor. It Benchmarks at about 1/2 the speed of the 40 MHz 040 card or roughly the same as the 040 with control panel on the Medium setting.
