Hey everyone,
I've got a trayloader Rev. C iMac, and I just acquired a new-old-stock picture tube for the G3 AIO. My plan is to put the AIO tube into the iMac. Has anyone ever swapped picture tubes between the two? They are both similar part numbers from LG, but don't seem to be exactly the same.
The tube assembly for the AIO has a second degauss coil around the neck of the tube, where the iMac tube has no such thing. Also, in pictures I have seen, the iMac CRT seems to have some sort of small connector coming from around the yoke area that is separate from the usual, large 4-pin yoke plug. The yoke on the AIO tube does not have this extra plug. Does anyone have any idea what that's about?
And, finally, does anyone know if this is an upgrade for the iMac? My hunch is that the AIO tube is a little nicer than the iMac tube, but it could be just a hunch.
Any knowledge would be appreciated. I've never torn down a tray loader to the picture tube level, and anything I can learn ahead of time is helpful.
