Couple of IIsi questions

I have two IIsi machines here that I just re-capped (logic board only). One of them gives me a garbled screen on startup after being unplugged overnight; if I just restart, it recognizes the monitor fine. It’s an Apple mono screen from the period, so there will be no conflict there. Both are running System 7.1 with 8 (9) mb RAM (1mb being onboard). I’m going to try to sell these on and reclaim my basement. The ruddy things are breeding. I used Parity 2MB RAM chips, so far as I can see,

My two questions:

1. Does a IIsi need a pram battery? This is what the behaviour suggests to me.

2. On a completely unrelated matter, can I use a IIsi to test one of the SE/30 video cards that I have lying around here? Or would that fry it and/or the card? I ask because there is not complete compatibility between the PDS architectures of the two, as otherwise presumably a Nubus adapter from a IIsi would work in an SE/30. It would be much easier to test the card in the IIsi, though, as the SE/30 is so hard to work on by comparison.
