My old boss had one of these and was very protective of it.  I used it once and gained an instant fetish for them... and never found one outside of eBay where they wanted way too much money for a dang mouse.  I believe this almost completes my collection - I have a couple roller ball PS/2 variants, a roller ball USB, but FINALLY I FOUND AN OPTICAL ONE.  And it's brand frickin new, and cost me 63 cents after tax!

That mouse has a nice feel for righties and I have never seen an optical one.  When I worked for the empire I came away with a clear (roller ball) version of that mouse and the shape that proceeded it. The latter even has an adapter that takes if from serial to PS/2.

Nice haul!  Those old IntelliMice are built like tanks.  I remember we got one (regular mouse ball version) that was cobranded for Gateway ("Microsoft for Gateway 2000") and the scroll wheel just seemed like such an obvious feature that it was strange that no one else had brought it to the mass market before that point.

OMG... now I need a clear one.  Had no idea those existed.

I know I've got a couple Gateway branded mice, had a black Dell at one point and maybe still do plus several unbranded mice, and I might even still have one without the scroll wheel but shaped the same.  I used to have a "MousePort" version as well that had a cool ISA card included with it but I think I let it go with one of the old PCs I sold off.

I like these oddball mice - the USB roller ball mouse was really weird, just doesn't seem right.  I have a HP optical mouse with a PS/2 connector too - same thing, doesn't seem right, but it's really cool.

Those Intellimice are my favourite mice. I bought an old one not too long ago on eBay.

These are definitely one of the most comfortable mice ever made. I have a small collection of them, as well as an optical one like you found! But mine is heavily worn. The “with IntelliEye” logo is pretty much gone.

I love the intellimouse, they are by far my favorite of all time.  I remember the optical ones and I *think* I still have my original scroll wheel version, the ball type though.  I did recently find a new sealed serial version, sans the scroll wheel, at a local Goodwill for $3.  It is perfect for older computers that don't have a PS/2 port, like one particular home-built Pentium 1 I have.

Microsoft mice were some of the best mice out back in the day, and I still use their basic optical ones today.
