Color Classic tips?

I just picked up a color classic locally it turns on but gets stuck at a floppy drive icon(bad hdd obvs) and apparently boots off of floppys for whatever thats worth. I dont intend on using floppys instead replacing with bluescsi, possibly building a rascsi off of pcbway later.

I'm intending on doing the maintenence this week so this lasts at least another decade so replacing the logic board caps with tantalums and analog board with new branded electrolytics. The analog board has regular electrolytics so I'll be replacing the main recommendations from recap a mac unless I see other issues.

Are there any main other culprits that fail over time to look out for?

Nope, not if it’s working. Recapping logic board and analog board should be enough.

be careful with the ESR/impedance ratings of the caps you use on the analog board. My colour Classic mostly worked before I recapped the analog board and now it has a lot of problems.

I say working it boots from floppies a bit and has a broken hard drive, already tried replacing the rubber bumper with a tpu one but doesnt work. low impedance and esr arent the same, perhaps thats where you went wrong or just partially broken traces a miliohm meter could test that.
Amiga of Rochester has a cap list with ESR ratings for a few models including the CC.

The adjustment pots on the back of the AB are covered by a little plastic piece, and it's a lint trap. Worth cleaning it up while you're in there.
Thats really good ill do a bit more googling as my AB is a C revision or possibly an A and the list is lacking enough that I want to be sure I'm fitting the right caps.
I havent noticed lint there but my case and fan needed a really good clean out absolutely black.

Also considering printing a fan bracket to stimulate some air flow in the analogue board/crt area and replacing the 80mm fan with a silent one.

There are many things that can go wrong with the CC's logicboard and analog board. Mine has burn marks around resistors on the analog board, and it had some very weak solder joints, so I think it just needs more work. But they are well known for having multiple issues - yours is certainly under the category of 'working' if it boots. Most CCs don't even get that far these days.

I actually met the previous owner and couldn’t have asked for a better person to buy off. After testing my ‘Macintosh classic’ logic board caps I’ve zero hope for the ones on this board so will be replacing those with kemet tantalum’s.
The AB on the color classic looks okay but has some signs of a rusty leakage in a couple of spots and a dent in the large 330uf 400v capacitor which I assume to be factory fault.

I have a theory that at least half of all CC analog boards are haunted.
