Sold a recapped analog board to a guy on ebay and it didnt fix his sound issue. I didnt think it would as his logic board isnt recapped. He sent me this picture saying screen looks smeary around icons. I tested board before it was sent and had zero issues. Is this from his logic board? Or is it my analog board?

I’d guess logic board just based off the fact he says his board isn’t recapped. You can’t really do troubleshooting in situations like this when the huge variable of leaky caps is present.
Could be the AB but if you had no issues and then he does, it either got damaged during shipping, wasn’t installed properly, or his logic board has issues.

Ok. I told him to join 68kmla and see if we can resolve it. Logic has to be recapped for sure anyways. So working with him so he can get his classic working good.

Hey there, that's my Classic II. As you can see the display is blurry/smeary after the analog board swap. It didn't exhibit that issue before the swap and I'm going to see if the issue goes away after putting the original analog board back in. I'll let you know the results. Thanks

Hey!, like i said Not sure why it would be analog board but try original and see.

Welcome! And good luck. Analog board issues on these systems are common, lots of lower quality parts beyond even the likes of capacitors that fail with age. It’s possible there was some random coincidental failure, or it could be also very likely that your logic board is at fault.
Analog board or not, your logic board is going to need new capacitors for sound to work, and for the system to work at all reliably long term. Amiga of Rochester does recaps in the USA if you aren’t comfortable with soldering yourself.

Hmm. Yeah, something must be off with the new one then. Unfortunate. There are a few people here that know more about these analog issues than I do, much more. From my memory, a couple resistors and an octocoupler IC love to go bad on these, among other issues. Not sure if that would produce the symptoms you’ve shown though, I’ve never seen much like that on a classic before.

I offered to recap his board for sending analog board back. I have two working classic ii boards i can exchange with as well. Weird, the analog worked fine. I have two, and have recapped two others.
