Hey gang I am recapping an Outbound Notebook I’ve had for a long time.. it’s about time!! At any rate the battery power supply board has a 220uf 35v cap on it and a tantalum piggy backed on that (see photos) I need to find out the value of the Tantalum.. it says 102 and K1M or KLM.. again see photos. Or perhaps I just put the correct cap with the right microfarads on instead. Please help!! I know Techknight could answer this in seconds but I hate bothering him all the time.. lol

Also just so everyone is aware of you recap this thing there are 5 - .22uf 5.5v strange caps that look like dime size.. it’s near where the hard drive slides in so I’m thinking these were special to accommodate space??? I ordered small tantalums that are .22 35v and I’m hoping that will suffice…

Forgive my messy work area but you can see them lined up on the bottom right in front of the hdd plug.

Im thinking it’s a Kemet 1000pf 100 or 50v??? Can someone confirm 😊😊😊
Since it is connected in parallel to a 35V capacitor, then it only needs to be 35V or larger. Yes, 102 = 1000pf. Most ceramics that size are at least 50V. So, you should easily be able to find a substitute.

This looks like a supercap to me.

Thanks so much!!! So on the super cap what should I do?? Will a .22 35v replacement be ok??

And just a note to ANYONE who has an Outbound Notebook not the 125 laptop.. there were definitely many leaky stinky caps!!!! Ughhh was it bad!!! And not just in the computer but leaky ones in the Outbound power supply!!! So my advice is to work on it when you get a chance. The take apart is a little funky.. I should document that on here!!!

Another question for everyone.. Sorry to bother.. The 102 (1000pf) tantalum caps that I had to replace, one was piggybacked on the 330uf cap and another one that was on the system board that went from a smaller 100uf 10v cap to another component. The repacement that I used was a Kemet 1000pf 200 Volt +-5% Tolerance cap... Is this ok do you think? The machine is running fine.. I am not sure if the tolerance should be bigger or if that value of tolerance is ok?? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.. :) :) The other one I ordered but hasn't come in yet was a 1000pf 100 Volt but with 10% Tolerance..
