Hi, as the title says, my SE/30 does not come with a floppy drive, I have a spare drive from 6100 and can I use it?

Hi , SE/30’s floppy drive is MP-F75W-xxG.
It is auto-inject drive. But 6100’s floppy drive is MPF xxA or MF355F-xxMA. It is manual-inject drive. They are not same, so you can’t use.
I will paste the link of the detailed page.

But reading it again it seems able to work, since a manual inject works on Mac IIsi.

If you can cut SE/30’s Shell, you can use it.
When you want to inject floppy into Manual-inject drive, you need to push by your finger. But normal SE/30's shell can’t reach to inject. You need to cut the SE/30’s shell.
And if you want to use mechanical emergency eject button, you need to make new hole on the Se/30’s shell.

But functionality wise it should read and write right?

It'll read and write no problem. The issue is getting the disk to go in. What I did when my Centris 650 had a Quadra 650 floppy drive in it (same drive as the one from a 6100), was to take a second floppy and insert it backward, using it to push the disk all the way into the drive so it'd drop down onto the spindle. I have since replaced the MF355F mechanism with the correct Sony mechanism.

yup I thought of it too, use something to push it in, since I don’t have a drive for my SE/30
