Is it possible?
I am having no luck doing so. It will boot and load extensions, but freezes on the loading screen after the extensions have loaded before going to the desktop. With extensions disabled, it freezes in the same place just with no extensions loaded.
I have the Sonnet firmware patch for osx applied and 10.4.11 runs perfectly. Before I installed the firmware patch, the os9 booting behaviour was exactly the same as it is now, so I don't think that's related.
I have installed Crescendo/Encore CPU Upgrade Card software v2.3.1 (and then v3.1 when the first failed) under classic, and it has put the Sonnet Processor Upgrade extension in the extensions folder, and you can see it load at boot, but still no dice.
Edit:
I found the missing link.
The download "updatedCPU.sit" available from https://www.macintoshrepository.org/1839-sonnet-crescendo-encore-processor-upgrade-drivers
This file contains a modified "Apple CPU Plugins" that goes in the Multiprocessing folder in the extensions folder.
9.2 now boots normally.
