Bad Ticker

Hey guys. I need help with an analog board I am trying to run on a Mac plus. It’d driving me bananas! It makes a ticking sound when the RAM test completes. The sound goes away IF i unplug the ribbon cable from the floppy drive to the logic board OR if I put a disk in the floppy drive! Here’s what i have done to figure out what’s causing the noise.

-I recapped the board. Still ticks.
-I tried with a different analog board that didn’t recreate the sound. To me that eliminates the logic board and the floppy as the culprits.
-I tried with a different floppy drive and not surprisingly still ticks.
-I tried with a floppy cable that has a red stripe instead of yellow. Still ticks.
- I have checked and double checked the polarity.
-I tried to swap out the cable that runs from the analog board to logic board. Same issue.

any idea what this could be?

Michael

That ticking sound is 100% normal on most of these. I forget what it is, but it is normal.

Really? Because my other board doesn’t do it! If I had another Compact Mac I would try it on there.
