Apple IIe Disk card ID needed

I recently acquired an Apple IIe. I'm trying to get it to work with my Floppy Emu but not having much luck. That said I don't really know what I am doing when it comes to Apple IIe. I last used one back in the 80's when I was 10.

The Apple IIe seems to startup fine. Self-test checks out. I put the Floppy Emu in 5.25 Apple II mode but when I reset the computer no disk access happens. The Floppy Emu is connected directly to the card via the DB-19 connector.

The floppy drive that came with the computer is also attached.

Any pointers would be great.

At a minimum the 5.25" drive should spin and attempt to boot from a disk when connected to the computer. In order to boot off of the FloppyEmu, it has to be the only device connected to the card.

I haven't tried the disk drive yet as I have no formatted disks. When I try the Floppy Emu I see no attempt to read the disk but I don't know if I'm selecting the right drive type.

Does the controller need to be in a specific slot? I came in slot 6. In slot 7 there is a network card.

Slot 6 is ok, default slot for the controller.

you say the floppy emu is connected to the 19 pin connector and the actual floppy drive "is also attached"? How? Do you own a BMOW Daisy chainer and a floppy emu model C?

Is the floppy EMU configured with MAC/LISA Firmware, or the Apple II firmware (this info is on the boot screen of the floppy emu as it turns on)?

If you have been using it on a MAC, it WILL NOT work on an apple II without flashing the firmware (its easy, instructions on BMOW Website)

Again which model of floppy emu do you have? Model A or B WONT work when used in tandem with an actual floppy drive.

Only the EMU is connected. Yes it has the Apple II firmware loaded. I'm using the Apple 5.25 profile.

if the card edge connector on the floppy controller card is clean and in slot 6 or 7 all you should see on the screen is "APPLE ][" or "APPLE //" depending on whether your IIe has the enhansed chipset or not. And the drive LED should illuminate. Does this happen?

Or does the computer show the "APPLE II" at the top and go to a Basic prompt immediately at the bottom? That would indicate a problem with the controller card.

If it goes right to the basic prompt type in PR#6 or PR#7 (depending on the slot number the card is in) and hit enter, does it illuminate the floppy drive LED then?

Yes I recommend you do these things with the floppy drive rather than the floppy emu at first to determine if the card works.

So I attached the floppy. No disk access. I removed the cards added some Deoxit and reseated one at a time. The disk drive started working. I put things back together and it stopped. It was then I realized the problem was a Corvus Systems Transporter Apple card in slot 7 seems to make the disk not work. Not sure what this card is aside from possibly a network card.

Anyway for now problem solved.
