I cant get the apple iic to display anything on the screen and it has a weird cord inside, whats wrong with it? When i first bought it displayed weird characters on the screen. Now no video signal. Anyone know what the weird plug is? Thanks

Does it make the startup beep? If so, check to see if the video connector is loose. You've clearly got other issues here, but checking to make sure the no signal isn't a bad connection is a good place to start, the video RCA connector is a known fault on these.

That's a pimped out IIc! You've got there a Checkmate Multiram XC 512k RAM upgrade... Not sure what that switch mod is, looks like it's connected to the drive? Either one of those (depending on what the switch does) could be at issue here.

But +1 to @3lectr1cPPC 's advice to check first - the composite jack often become loose in its housing and needs to be soldered back together - easy to check as it will turn freely (and it shouldn't).

The weird characters suggests a RAM issue, which could be on the expansion or on the main logic board. But see if the composite jack is loose first.

Thanks now after taking it apart the cables are connected to the floopy drive and keyboard so not sure what that is for. The video out connection jack is solid. Some of the wires from the weird mod disconnected and now the iic wont turn on at all after i put it back together lol I’ll deal with it later i guess

I'm kinda wondering if it was some kind of reboot mod, in which case it could interfere with power... Totally guessing. God knows. Super curious to know what it was connected to...

Could it be an internal/external primary floppy switch? I know BMOW makes a mod so you can make the external floppy connector primary - and thus boot from it. 🤔

Maybe a switch to disable floppy disk protection ( so being able to write on both sides)

is the Multiram well connected ? Pins are thin and easy to bend.
