• Updated 2023-07-12: Hello, Guest! Welcome back, and be sure to check out this follow-up post about our outage a week or so ago.

Anyone interested in Apple's old FTP site for vintage systems?

I copied the site years ago before it disappeared.
It's about 8gb zipped.
Some examples...
Any ideas where I could upload it?

Last I checked, a lot of these files actually still exist on the support website if you know the exact URLs. The site won't give you a directory listing anymore but many ancient direct links actually work fine. I've used archive.org to get the listing and formulate the exact URLs and then retrieved the actual files for some System 7 disks directly from Apple sometime within the past year, fwiw

Interesting to note

I always feel compelled to point out: asa.max1zzz.co.uk whenever I see discussions regarding this
As far as I am aware that is pretty much complete barring a few OS 9 updates that required you to accept a EULA before downloading (The EUAL page no longer worked when I made this mirror - If your archive contains them I would happily add them to this mirror)

There's also this version, archived from 1/1998...

Out of curiosity, how big is that archive? Would you be willing to let others clone/mirror it if we could coordinate an appropriate time and method to do so?
Uncompressed it's 9.03GB (In OSX, in OS's it would be slightly less) and yes that's absolutely fine
What I might also do is download the archive.org mirror and compare it to my one as it would be interesting to see if there are any differences

I looked at yours and the one on archive and also the one @leothecomputerguy has, and there definitely are files in some that aren’t in others. It would be great to combine all 3.
