i got another PB G3 (this time off ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=360214039605&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT#ht_2938wt_928)

333mhz,64mb,cd

as one can see, no hardrive caddy/cable.

What can lombards boot from? (how does network boot work, i have many other macs)

i boots an os9 cd fine, but won't boot usb like my pismo will

also, is this trackpad/top case interchangeable w/ my pismo?

thanks in advance for the info

geeko

edit- just got 2 more pbs from the same guy! http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=360215726771#ht_3628wt_928

Congrats on your find geeko! :D I wonder if they have any batteries, and if they are any good.

Anyway, the PowerBook G3 Lombard was the first PowerBook to use the New World ROM. And as far as I know, they never made an update to support network booting. (Doesn't even the bootloader that other NewWorld Macs have when you hold the option key.)

Your Pismo was the model that succeeded the Lombard. Which is why it supports things like USB and network booting.

I myself have a Lombard, and I enjoy it a whole lot. :D Only thing I need for it is a new battery, came with a dead one. I just haven't put aside the money for one yet. ;)

IMO the Lombard is a great machine. It can run Mac OS 9, Mac OS X, or even Linux. :D

I don't know if the Lombard's trackpad/top case are interchangeable with the Pismo's. According to what I've read they're basically the same casing. So technically it should work.

Anyway, congrats again! Three of them is a great find!

well, i got the rest of the computers and the time to work on them, and, combining all three i bought+ my pismo and my mom's clamshell, now i have this:

>pismo-500mhz,1gb ram, 80gb hard drive,10.4.11, airport, 2 batteries (one brand new, and a really good one from the lot)-mine!

>pismo-400mhz,384mb ram, 80gb hard drive,10.4.11, airport, aging battery (only about 40 min on it), dvd drive-mom's new mac

>lombard/101-333mhz,256mb ram, 6gb hard drive, 10.4.11, dead batteries- probably sell

> ibook g3-300mhz,160mb ram,3gb hard drive,10.3.9- also probably sell

> lombard/101- parts pile (almost enough for another lombard)

the 500mhz cpu is great! (i say as i type this from a 1.25ghz emac.,.. :scrambled: )

EDIT- the pismo for my mom might have a bad harddrive, i'll have to look into that xx(

I have to admit, I'm a big fan of the 500mhz Pismo, too. (I have two. :)

Out of curiousity, any idea what you might want for the Lombards? I've been sort of looking for one in enough of a condition (parts pile?) to let me run BatteryReset on the two dead Pismo batteries I have.

Also, what color is the ibook?

the parts lombard is only missing the hard drive/cable/caddy, and has a smashed lcd screen. the clamshell ibook is the original teal/ blueberry model, and it is missing the cd drive bezel.

So, Like I said... how much for the Lombard and, out of curiousity, for the iBook? If you're interested in selling, that is... :)

Thanks...

the lombard is just a pile of parts- motherboard,64mb ram, 333mhz, keyboard missing one key, smashed lcd, no battery/cd drive, and it is all in pieces, but does work (boots to ? folder, thats all i know) the plastics look great, aside from being a little scuffed, chipped in one place (tiny), but they smell a little musty. i would like $15+ shipping for it. let me know if you would be interested in the other lombard, but it'll be $50+ shipping.

the ibook would be $50+ shipping, and works great

none have power cords with them

ask me if you want pictures of them
