Alternative to desktop Quicken

More a modern day Mac question than a vintage one.  I've been using Quicken desktop for, oh, at least 20 years.  I've used it through Mac and PC versions.  The Mac version has always been somewhat of an orphan child, I remember that from when I switched from the PC version to the Mac version in like 2005 - way fewer features.  The 2017 version improved a bit.

I've never loved Intuit as a company; for the last 20 years they've been pulling this crap, for one.  And now they've gone and jumped on the "hey, let's make more money by charging an annual subscript for what we used to sell as stand-along software licenses" band wagon.

So I'm looking for an alternative to Quicken desktop for Mac.  I really only use it for managing my checkbooks (I have like 10 personal and business accounts I manage), and the occasional reports.  So I don't need anything fancy.  And we use the app with the capability to sync with the desktop app.  That way my wife can write checks and record them and they make their way into the app, which is what we've been using with Quicken. However, now that online capability is expiring in my Quicken 2017 version,  and not all they offer are annual subscriptions to get that capability back.

Anyone found a good alternative that is reasonably priced that is comparable?
