Open letter to the admins:

Dear 68kMLA admins,

As you may be aware, we seem to have gotten the first spambot/spammer of the 3rd 68kMLA. What can we do to stop this? One of the things that I've always admired about the 68kMLA is the lack of spam. I believe somebody suggested before not sending the password in plain text in the confirmation e-mails, and some other things have been suggested. This thread is to take suggestions from 68kMLA members to help y'all out.

Thanks and good luck,

MultiFinder17

I'm still questioning my anti-Spam system. It's been foolproof and it works well, but there's a new wave of spambots around now so i'm still working out how to deter those.

To be honest, we're not that badly hit with spam posts. The changes I've made to our CAPTCHA to make it unique have all but stopped the automatic spam bots. However, there's not much we can do about real people registering and posting spam topics. You hear reports of people being employed to just surf about forums and post spam topics.

Basically all we can do is clean up these posts when they happen, which we're usually pretty quick at doing. All we can ask of you is to not reply to them, send one of us a PM and we'll get it cleaned up as soon as possible.
