A/UX compatibility with SE/30 Farallon PDS ethernet card

Hello,

I am hoping to run A/UX on my SE/30 (once it's actually working). I'd like to use it as a server so I've been looking for PDS ethernet cards. I managed to find a Farallon card but I haven't seen anyone state that it will work in A/UX. From threads here I've gleaned that the Asante Maccon cards work in the regular OS without drivers, but the Farallon cards may require them. Thus my concern over procuring a Farallon card for use with A/UX.

Has anyone here attempted to use a Farallon 030 PDS ethernet card in A/UX? Were you successful?

Thanks!

Edit:

I will note that the A/UX FAQ has this to say about network cards, not specifically mentioning the Farallon card but confirming that the Asante cards work:

I have an EtherNet card that works fine under the Macintosh OS but not under A/UX. Why?

The reason is because to access the card (which is seen as a device by A/UX), you need an A/UX device driver for it. This is not the same as the stuff you had to install under the MacOS for it to work. Now A/UX includes drivers for the Apple EtherNet card (they aren't installed by default though), but they don't work with most of the 3rd party cards except for the 3Com "EtherLink NB", the Asante "MacCon" and the StarNet Networking cards. They are 100% register compatible with their Apple counterparts, so you can use Apple's 'ae' driver with them. Drivers for the EtherPort II cards are available via anon-ftp on jagubox. However, the drivers for the "old" EPII cards (full length) only support TCP/IP (they were written for A/UX 1.1 but will work under 2.0.x). As far as other cards are concerned, you will have to ask the vendor for A/UX drivers for it.

Please note that there have been numerous reports about problems with the EtherPortII cards, A/UX and the IIfx and IIsi... you are warned. ☺

If it works with the Apple generic ethernet drivers then it will work in A/UX.

What kind of controller chip does the Farallon use?

It's got a National Semiconductor DP83901AV. That appears to be the same chip on the Asantes, so I take it that's good news?

Updating this thread to note that the card is detected in A/UX 3.1.1 without any additional effort.
