68040 SE/30 (with Bolle's Accelerator/etherenet card)

A month or so ago I bought one of those cards from Bolle to put my Daystar 040 card into my SE/30. I finally got around to installing it yesterday, and went in pretty straight forward. Once I found the driver for my accelerator, I was able to test the ethernet portion of the card be sending it from my G4 to my SE/30. After putting the CP into the System Folder and restarting, I ran Tattletech and Snooper to see what the card was doing. One of them said my machine was running 633% faster than a stock SE/30, and the other said it was running 114% faster than a Quadra 700. I didn't have much time to really get into it yesterday (daughter had a big swim meet), so I hope to play some more today.

Thanks Bolle!

Very jealous :)

What are your plans? This week I've been using my overclocked 475 for writing software to exercise my brain. I imagine the 475 is a similar speed to your speed boosted SE/30.

Plans? No plans; I’ve had the accelerator for about 20 years now, and that card that Bolle made looked like a neat use of it. I probably use that computer for playing card games more than anything else. I don’t see that changing.

I have an SE/30 and I am wondering what this magical card you are referring to that would have an 040 in the Mac plus an ethernet connection too. Is this a custom-made card? Or am I completely confused?

Hope you can kindly provide the details.

Thanks much in advance.

Sounds like you want an SE/30 with those upgrades, not possible with a Plus. A Plus can be upgraded to a 68030 and there are options for networking but doing these upgrades is easier with an SE/30.

I think they meant "an 040 in the Mac SE/30 plus and ethernet at the same time".

One of the 68kmla members, @Bolle, has made some custom riser cards that provide ethernet, as well as a slot for an accelerator card (such as a PowerCache, Turbo or Speedster etc etc) and a pass through for another card such as video. I believe they are in stock :)
