6100 killed by Apple Extended Keyboard II :-(

At best that should be a temporary solution though, constantly doing that is probably not great for the power supply as far as I know.

6100 logic boards tend to die because of capacitor leakage, a bad Egret or a bad 601. The 601 is really fragile, it cracks easily if the heatsink is knocked, removed improperly or if the board is handled by holding the heatsink/lifting it with the heatsink.

Totally agree. The double power trip should really be limited to diagnosing whether you need a new battery.

Also agree about the other forms of death. And will add heatsink grease turning into chalk. Often this won't completely kill it, it just won't run reliably for more than a few minutes or even seconds.

Given the things folks are doing with soldering these days, it should be possible to replace cracked CPUs....

304 tiny little pins to get registered properly though. I think Kai scored a fairly large batch of new PPC601 chips. There were at least 2 versions though as far as voltages expected on the supply pins, so getting a compatible replacement is not as simple as it could be.
