2UBG3 - Beige G3 2U Rackmount build - Prototyping a Homebuilt Box

NIGHT STALKER
THX, it's beginning to come together. Harvested a few mm for peripherals. Could lose the Zip Drive and Card Reader/USB port on the froint panel if I wanted switch to a full size optical drive. I haven't checked into adapting a laptop form factor IDE Zip, should do that. The more free cubic the better.

I've pushed the limits of cable management as far as I care to. That's the limiting factor, hacking the sheet metal of the PSU would allow it to go a bit below the level of the heat sink, but that's Ponoco process hostile. The only mod to the PSU necessary for someone who might want to do this will be replacement of the (3mm?) PCB mounting bolts with longer ones in 4-40. Couldn't thread the originals in from the opposite side, but 4-40 works in either direction, so I figure they're 3mm.

NIGHT STALKER
Just about ready to Ponoco the layout for the SQUID/G3, but it may be adapted back to a IIsi board after all. The G3DT may be heading back into its original 2U+ form factor and mounted on an impromptu rack frame underneath the display setup.

It should mount flush underneath the display extension ans I've got 34" of width available to house peripherals for four different systems on the multiple KVM setup!

Inexpensive multiple LCD setup, wall mount TV . . .
