    Spectre GCR

I bought one of these off of eBay. No idea if it has the ROMs in it, but it allegedly works, so it probably does. It's going to be entertaining seeing this thing running on my Mega ST4, just like Mac OS 7.6.1 on my Amiga 1200 with a 40 MHz 68030... Luckily, the software was easy to find.

    IBM Startup Chime...

So, I've got an RS/6000 44P Model 170 here, with a startup chime. I'm curious as to if Dennis Nedry or dougg3 wants to help me take a stab at this. I've got a copy of the latest firmware update from IBM, but the main issue is that it seems to be an executable containing compressed firmware for...

    QS 2002 Ethernet woes...

For some reason, my Quicksilver 2002 (not the machine in my sig) will only think that its ethernet port is operating at 10mbps half duplex, no matter what I connect it to. If I connect it to my gigabit switch, I get a gigabit link light, but I cannot transfer data at all. I'm wondering if this...

    $15 QuickSilver

Got this from East Carolina University surplus for $15, its a fairly basic 733 with no RAM or HD (they wanted $50 for one with those). Also picked up an Apple Pro Keyboard for $7 while I was there :)

    Apple IIe SSD

Through a trade, I managed to get a brand new Focus IDE controller, with IDE-CF adapter for my IIe. Its currently running with a 16 MB CF card. Silent, and fast ;D Pictures: http://i41.tinypic.com/350ud5z.jpg http://i42.tinypic.com/f2rj3a.jpg

    New Phone

Got myself a BlackBerry Curve 8330 off of eBay for the decent sum of $290 shipped NIB. Works great on my Sprint account, and gets 3G coverage here unlike the iPhone :D . The browser isn't as great, but Opera Mini is free and works well too.

    Dual 450 Gigabit Ethernet

Went to ECU surplus today with John8520, and we both got for $30 each dual 450 GBEs with no RAM/HD (but we have them), DVD-ROM in mine, DVD-RAM in his, SCSI in mine, and Zips in both. Mine also had a working PRAM battery.

    New Monitor

Got myself Cory5412's favorite LCD of all time, the Dell UltraSharp 1708FP. Very very great picture. Definitely worth the money, and its even compatible with weirdo video signals like sync-on-green for SGIs.

    SCSI Hard Drives!

On my local Craigslist, there was a guy selling the following lot for $125: Picking these up today, and selling two 36.4 GB drives to Dan 7.1, a 73.4 and 36.4 to Cory5412, and I'm keeping two 73.4 GB drives, which will go in my HP J6000.

    More silly UNIX for me...

While browsing eBay today, I found for $125 an HP Visualize J6000. Its an HP workstation from around 2000, has dual 552 mhz PA-8600 processors, 4 GB of RAM (expandable to 16), 2 18 GB HDs, and HP Visualize fxe graphics. Also came with the original HP USB KB/mouse. I'm hoping mine has the...

    MacBook

I just bought myself the 2.4 GHz white MacBook today, and right now I'm setting it up. I was able to get $100 off the price too for being an ECU student as well.

NewerTech MAXpowr Pro G3/266 DIP switches?

I recently got an 8500 with one of these, and it seems to show up as 200 mhz under 7.6. I need to figure out what the DIP switches are then. Does anyone know?

    Sort-of Conquest: Mac II

I got this thing from John8520 about a year ago, and somehow forgot about it. I finally dug it out today, soldered in a new ADB fuse, and installed a 105 MB SCSI drive out of a dead NeXTstation. It works well, except for the video card, which has totally shot caps (unreadable text except in...

    Heavily Upgraded 7600

Got this off LEMswap for just shipping (and it was in the South, so shipping wasn't bad, and it'll only take 2 days). 556 mhz PowerLogix G3 upgrade, 656 MB of RAM, 3 and 4 GB drives, Rage 128 PCI, pressed 9.0.4 and 9.1 CDs. Also includes keyboard/mouse, and manuals.

    8500 and 9500

    Sony alpha 200 DSLR

Got one of these Saturday. Its a nice 10.2 MP entry level DSLR, amazingly uses CompactFlash (even though its Sony). Uses the Minolta A mount, so just about any Minolta/Konica Minolta lens made starting in 1985 is 100% compatible. Sony has done a very good job IMO with the technology they...

    Pismo

Got a nice little Pismo 500/512 MB/40 GB pseudo-locally for $50 today. Works very well, just has a shot battery.

    IBM RS/6000 POWERstation 230

Grabbed this off eBay for $15 BIN the other day. FedEx says it should be here today (its out for delivery actually). Its a small pizzabox chassis (type 7011), just barely larger than a 610 or 6100. It has a 45 mhz "POWER Single Chip" CPU, and I don't know how much RAM in mine yet. It also nicely...

    More RAMs!

I finally got an upgrade in RAM for my IBM RS/6000 7044. 512 MB kit for $35 on eBay, not bad, considering its genuine IBM RAM, with a warranty too. That'll bring it up to 1 GB.
