    Bootable disk creation

I must have a pretty early model ROMinator II, because instead of the useful disk utilities described on Steve’s website, I’ve got a system folder and a bunch of games strewn about in a window. It would have been nice to have the patched version of HD SC Setup, SDSIProbe, and ResEdit. It’s not a...

    Bootable disk creation

Ah yes, cheers. Just looking at the spec page on bigmessowires’s site. I’d forgotten about the bootable ROM image. I didn’t originally see the utility of the 32-bit clean aspect, as I’ve always just used Mode32 once a system was up and running. I can see the utility of HD20 support if ever I...

    Bootable disk creation

I have a ROMinator II, but don’t really know what to do with it. What’s the benefit of having it in, say, a IIx? I messed about with it in an SE/30 once, but with the default setup on the ROMinator, I didn’t really know what its utility was. I also don’t have a way of editing the ROMinator, as I...

    Bootable disk creation

I'm digging up this thread simply to thank @gpz500 for this recommendation. It's transformed my experience of trying to format tricky SCSI drives. Booting from a RAMDisk and being able to swap in an additional floppy on my FloppyEmu is such a great solution.

    FloppyEMU HD20.dsk issues on SE

Thank you so much for this recommendation. 👏 The 'file not contiguous' error was so infuriating. This solution worked!

    Jason's Macintosh Museum

Thanks. I’m perhaps most proud of the Spacestation Pheta video, as the creator agreed to be interviewed for it. I also did the intro animation frame by frame.

    Jason's Macintosh Museum

Thanks for your interest. I’d describe the channel as ‘humble’ and ‘dormant’. 😜 Here you go: https://www.youtube.com/@onceandfuturetech

    Jason's Macintosh Museum

I really miss this guy’s video uploads. He had such chill vibes. Hope things are going well for him. As someone who has fallen off the YouTube wagon myself, I can see how you just get to a stage where other things take priority or become more of a focus.

That’s amazing! How did you get the dimensions for the original parts in order to reproduce them with such precision?

Announcing broadATX for Mac II, IIx, and IIfx

When the time comes, do you have any plans to add these to your eBay site for possible international delivery? I recognise you may want a certain amount of domestic orders first to make that worth your while. It’s just that you have another interested buyer across the pond! All the best.

My Macintosh Quadra 700 Clean Up and Fixes

What is the implication of using an ATX PSU that only has 0.5A on the -12V line? Will it damage the motherboard, result in uncertain performance, or simply disallow the computer to function?

Stealth Macintosh IIcx/IIvx style SFX PSU rebuild

Thanks for checking in! I still have a few parts to pick up. I’m also a little hesitant, because if I mess up the original PSU, I’ll essentially have an unusable IIci. So, just doing a bit more homework.

Stealth Macintosh IIcx/IIvx style SFX PSU rebuild

Thanks for that extra info, @joshc. I’m in the process of getting the parts ordered and will have a go using the resources (and parts numbers!) you have provided. The Seasonic PSU has already arrived. If I’m successful, I’ll try to post here as well.

Stealth Macintosh IIcx/IIvx style SFX PSU rebuild

Thanks for the reply! I’m good up until the point of the circuit, and then I’m a bit lost, as I have no electrical engineering experience. My ability sadly ends at recapping and soldering. Will have a friend look at it and tell me exactly what I need to do. For instance, I wish this made total...

Stealth Macintosh IIcx/IIvx style SFX PSU rebuild

If you ever have a moment, would it be possible to explain (or show) how to match up the wires between the Seasonic and the original adapter the plugs into the motherboard on the IIci/Q700? I’m still unsure how to do the matching. Thanks, and great work!

    LC/LCII Power Supply Replacements?

I think that’s right regarding the IIvx supply. Pretty sure it’s the same as the one that powers the Q700/IIcx/IIci, and a quick internet search appears to confirm that. I even swapped in a 7100 PSU into my Q700 when its PSU died. Prioritising the SE & SE30 + IIcx/ci/vx/Q700 designs seems...

    LC/LCII Power Supply Replacements?

Looking good! That’s a very clean design as well. Thanks for the regular updates. Can’t wait to see how this progresses.

Shutdown screen oddities on LC III and 475

Thanks for all of these replies. It truly is a bit perplexing. @dan.dem I don’t have RAM Doubler installed on this machine, but that was an interesting observation. @Byrd Weirdly enough, this is the only evidence of any kind of issue or corruption I’ve noticed in the usage of the computer...

Shutdown screen oddities on LC III and 475

I've been going through trying to determine the state of a few of my machines recently (all have recapped logic boards), and I've noticed a sporadic oddity when shutting down, and I don't know if it's related to a logic board issue, something to do with the aged HDD or even the PSU. If you look...
