Hi all,
Sometimes in KidPix I notice an extremely slow cursor when I have rubber stamp or selection rectangle selected (which replaces the cursor with an image.)
Other times it seems perfectly fine.
Has anyone noticed this and worked out which setting it might be that causes it?
I have 256...
Thank you both, I ended up swapping the IDE cable with a 80 wire ribbon (sadly disabling the CD drive, but that's not too big a deal) and it boots now. So I suspect the issue is something to do with ATA modes (is that the correct term?) on these bridge boards.
Hello everyone, I have an iMac G3 Flower Power that sadly its hard disk died recently.
I replaced the hard disk with a SSD and a IDE-SATA bridge board.
The SSD is recognised, I can see it as an icon when I hold Option on boot.
If I boot the iMac into FireWire Target Disk mode I can also read...
In my experience, 10.5 is slower. (At least on 1GB of RAM or less, which for a lot of G4s is the absolute- or practical max.)
Also note that you lose Classic.
Bump from the future - I have finally taken Concorde1993's high res scan, floated out the text and other elements, and cleaned the cropping and scratches. If anyone would like a copy please let me know, but it's a 6MB .xcf (The Gimp file format) with all the layers preserved.

If the BIOS has some sort of option for power on from mouse/keyboard activity, then it should be "fairly easy".
If not, then it's still possible, but would require also interfacing your iMate-alike to the power button header on the motherboard.
Firstly, I do not dispute that trag and phreakout are anything but well intentioned and they offer a great service to the community.
However, I would not really feel right stickying a thread primarily about a commercial service.
What I suggest instead is that a new thread be created, and that...
I've had many LaserJet 5s over the last few years, and in my experience the anecdotal evidence of them being indestructable tanks is incorrect.
While they are undoubtedly well built, all of the plastics and rubber used in the construction is now aged 10+ years from when it was new. They will of...
Looks like the Macintosh Bible is effectively over since 10.3 days.
It's a bit sad because I definitely feel that modern Apple fans could stand to learn a little about older times. I have a 3rd and a 7th myself, they're good reading.
1st Edition -
2nd Edition -
3rd Edition - 1991 (the...
It's perfectly fine for other people to post related experiences in a thread. Much better to have discussion, reminiscing, and back-and-forth than the alternative of many individual threads each with a few "garts" replies. :b&w:
The scan I would like is of the front of the System 7.1 box...
That System 7 box cover is great; I don't think I had ever seen it before.
If you have a scanner and some free time, would you perhaps be able to scan a high resolution image of the front? :)
That is incorrect. The majority of Apple printers were not rebadged, they were designed and built by Apple.
Where the urban myth comes from is that only a very few companies made print engines. So between several completely different printers, you might have a single Canon engine driving them...
That is a great, succint summary of the issues involved. :lisa2:
The number one thing as mentioned is the voltage difference.
Number two is that only the "User Mode" of the 68060 is instruction-compatible with the same in the 68040. Mac OS runs in the "Supervisor Mode" of the CPU, which...
