Can anyone help I'm trying to get my macintosh classic II going again.
I've previously tried to get this going with new caps and mosfets but got a thin horizontal line then a blown fuse, varistor, diode, power regulators and eventually found a shorted DC3 on the neck board and dead QC1...
I’ve just come back to one of these after doing all the fixes the internet says to do and not getting anywhere but catastrophic failure with blown fuses and diodes. Tonight I found a failed 1n148 diode on the neck board shorted to Earth. Since dp3 and dp4 are known for failing on these I’m...
I replaced everything I thought necessary had the main fuse blow on my second classic and found a blown diode and rifa cap, replaced the diode and removed the rifa but no dc voltage.
I’ve not touched it since start of December still angry and can’t be arsed for now.
Just had another component blow cp38 refa capacitor. I dont think this can cause the no power issue I'm having so I'll carry on looking :(
Heres a snippet of the circuit diagram I found in case anyone knows different
Still more issues its now chirping when powered every second or so, just put in a tda4605 from a source I've bought from before. 1.2v and 0.53v on 12v and 5v
I appreciate the comment but I'm not that far in yet. Currently struggling to get the analog board back and working. I've just replaced the mosfet, octocoupler, fuse, dp5 diode and another TDA4605 but the power supply isn't working theres no power after the transformer. I'm currently blaming...
Thanks for the advice if it’s a bad area I’ll definitely go through cleaning with alcohol and checking the traces best I can but I won’t removing that chip with my 858d hot air station for many reasons including it’s not a bga chip.
I’ve not cleaned this as the board was quite clean to begin with.
perhaps, I don’t know what to do with the rom chips, but I’ve tried reseating the ram modules and no difference. Apparently there’s ram on the logic board so should boot without. There’s also 2 jumpers on the logic board that...
Possibly but theres very little left on the board now. I'm just going about sourcing equivalent parts for the power supply but I'm more concerned about the bars that havent gone away at all with the logic board, analog board recap.
So I’ve bought a Macintosh classic II which powered to white bars and decided to go through recapping the logic board with tantalum caps as well as analogue board with low esr caps using recapamac.com.au/ as reference as well as dp3 and dp4. After the work I powered the macintosh and got the...
The hard drives die. Bluescsi f4(yes get the f4 version) is a great and cheap solution that you can even DIY or order pre built.
i know there are issues with the Apple 343S0045-B chips failing but some enthusiasts are making progress here
I currently don't have something compatible with 10.4 but I might look for a mac mini this week.
Looks good but I dont know how to convert that from .vhd for Mister to .hda for bluescsi
I'm following a steep learning curve trying to setup my color classic with games and finding plenty of apps and game images from macintosh garden wont mount or arent readable by bluescsi or mac os. Has anyone made a image of 7.6 with a load of applications and games installed so I can enjoy the...
On my old (non color) classic I removed the logic board caps with a iron rather than hot air so I could connect them to a component tester. Everyone I tried was absolutely shot, the reading were not even out of spec just a thousand times out or unreadable.
No but you got me thinking about terminations so I soldered on the terminations I didn’t think we’re necessary on the bluescsi board. The documentation is really crap for bluescsi but I’m also really grateful for it.
Mosfets tend to be the part of a power supply that fail in general. I replaced the lot as I never want to take that classic apart again to work on the analog board.
I couldnt find tda4605 it seems to be mega discontinued instead I got a china special off ebay locally(though I could have gotten...
