How can I securely erase a Classic II hard drive without a functioning Macintosh?

In the eBay listing description put something to the effect of... "Modern technology and ambitious Macintosh developers have made it possible to replace the failed SCSI hard disk drive with newer storage options." Then give them a Youtube link with a demonstration. From the demo they can figure...

How can I securely erase a Classic II hard drive without a functioning Macintosh?

You could just remove the hard drive and sell it without one. Whomever buys it will probably add SCSI to SD option. If the Mac worked then you could obtain a bootable floppy disk with a formatting utility on it to boot the Mac and erase the hard drive. You simply insert the obtained floppy and...

HDMI to TMDS Adapter - Hook HDMI video source to your G4 Mac

I thought I read something somewhere about not being able to use the title “HDMI” in anything you sell unless licensed to do so.

    Looking for scheduled reboot utility

I'm remembering back when everyone wanted to list the uptime of their Mac in chatrooms and forums. Meanwhile I was constantly rebooting mine to get a stable running system. Seems like so long ago. Maybe it was. BTW try this it may help. https://macintoshgarden.org/apps/mac-restart-0

Scheduled Reboot Restart Cron for System 6 and 7?

Maybe this would help for System 7. It looks though that it is not compatible with System 6. https://macintoshgarden.org/apps/mac-restart-0

Can't boot SE from external BlueSCSI V2 sad Mac and flashing "?" Mark results

The Mac SE shipped from the factory with 1 MB installed in the form of four 256 KB SIMMs. It can be upgraded to 2 MB, 2.5 MB, and 4 MB configurations using 150ns or faster 1 MB 30-pin SIMMs. A Mac SE can boot from a CD but Mac OS 7.6.1 will not work on it. Mac OS 7.1 would be a good start...

Term for Mac Plus and Earlier Keyboard Connector?

Based on ADB being Apple Desktop Bus abbreviated, and USB being Universal Serial Bus abbreviated, wouldn't this be EMK, an Early Mac Keyboard port?

No dumb questions? Maybe this one…

Wasn't a dumb question at all btw. I was wondering the same because the IIsi has one.

    Help!!!

You may have to open the Mac SE and remove the floppy drive. Then you'll be able to see what is going on and eject it manually. I suspect it may need cleaning. Why the rush? just don't power up the Mac until you can disconnect the internal floppy from the board. I'm sure you are aware of the...

    Problems with external hard disk

Sorry, I thought you were trying to use it to boot the clamshell. This 2.5" HDD is it one that you just picked up or have you used it in the Clamshell perviously? Perhaps the disk itself is not formatted with Apple Partition Map. Use the G4 Mini to see if the disk was formatted with APMs. Also...

    Problems with external hard disk

Only specific usb controllers will boot a clamshell externally. USB 1.1 compatible chipset. Search for a drive enclosure with Prolific PL-3507 chipset.

Does this sound like a reasonable price?

Yea a bit over-priced unless there's an accelerator or network card in it or shipping is included, or original packaging and manuals are included.

Warning about Iomega Zip Drives on eBay being advertised as SCSI (Z100S) but actually being Parallel port (Z100P) versions

I would have been angry if I bought an Iomega Zip 100 back in 1995 expecting it to be SCSI and it turned out to be not SCSI but had the same connector, (back then hardly anyone in the public knew about connector types) but I would have been even more angry if it damaged my $3000 Mac. I wonder if...

Warning about Iomega Zip Drives on eBay being advertised as SCSI (Z100S) but actually being Parallel port (Z100P) versions

Because the two models share the same identical connector type as already pointed out and because of the significant damage that can be caused by connecting the wrong one. But I suppose the eBay seller should take on more responsibility in getting the correct specs posted for the one they are...

Warning about Iomega Zip Drives on eBay being advertised as SCSI (Z100S) but actually being Parallel port (Z100P) versions

It's funny that you mention this "buyer beware" topic this week as I did just purchase an external Iomega Zip 100 drive on eBay last week. I was specifically looking for a SCSI one which I made sure of before buying. You're right many postings were incorrect and some did not even post a photo of...

Yes if AppleShare Client 3.7.4 is present it enables the Chooser’s “connect to server” button. Is that button present when you click on Appleshare in the chooser?

Only if the iicx has SSW 7.5.3, Open Transport and AppleShare client software 3.7.4, you’ll be able to use the Chooser’s “connect to server” button to connect to remoter afp server. It’s where you can enter the server address and login as a guest. A more modern Mac can easily get you in to get...
