    NuBus Processor Upgrade Hardware revamp?

I managed to pick up a Sonnet 7100/8100 G3 upgrade, complete with cable and card. Let me tell you, going from a 601 to a 750 is a hell of a thing. If there's still interest in doing a reverse engineer on the card and cable, I'll see what I can do.

SCA to *IDE*? Sanity check please.

I was searching out a SCA to 50 pin adapter and found this on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/CERRXIAN-Female-Adapter-Converter-Computer/dp/B09G27DNN4/ It claims to be a SCA to IDE adapter using a 50 pin header. I'm sure it's a typo but... was there a 50 pin IDE standard?

    NuBus Processor Upgrade Hardware revamp?

Yeah, I kinda figured that since they didn't respond to my initial query. Realistically, these upgrades /can/ be used on these machines without the extender cables and frames, but it's one of those challenges that I figure is worth tilting at. I'm no EE by any means, but I'm sure there's folks...

    NuBus Processor Upgrade Hardware revamp?

Haven't heard back from Sonnet, also the seller who was selling me a Newer Technology upgrade card ghosted me. Certainly a rather frustrating time of it.

    NuBus Processor Upgrade Hardware revamp?

I'm going to send a message to Sonnet and ask if they're okay with a reverse engineering of this connector.

help for a Classic II recap

I've really had good results with my SCSI2SD... aside from the microusb header shearing off because the structural supports weren't fully secured to the PCB. (ObLink: https://store.inertialcomputing.com/SCSI2SD-s/100.htm )

    NuBus Processor Upgrade Hardware revamp?

Excellent! That's odd, the version I snagged off eBay must be a different revision where the cable seats on a pin header. (Don't have the board yet, still have to ask the seller about shipping status.)

    NuBus Processor Upgrade Hardware revamp?

Ah heck, I wonder if we can get whatever is encoded on it off.

    NuBus Processor Upgrade Hardware revamp?

Also wondering if anyone with the Newer Tech 7100/8100 upgrade cable and frame can help out?

Also try checking to see if there's voltage across the speaker's header.

Might be shorting to the RF shield on the bottom of the case?

Advice on PB150 repair - Hella cracked plastic and sadness, but working device.

Something also to look out for, the power barrel jack tends to get crusty with rust and debris; clean it out or replace it. I had some strange things go on with my machine and the plug itself was warm. Squirted some Deoxit on a wad of cotton and scrubbed it out, no problems since.

    NuBus Processor Upgrade Hardware revamp?

Could you do a big favor and peel back the 7181A sticker and get a pic of the chip?

    NuBus Processor Upgrade Hardware revamp?

I think the primary thing for the chassis is just to get someone to sit down for a few days with one and model it up in 3D. The primary purpose of the chassis is to just put the PDS video card in the right place to fit through the NuBus slot (upside down) and do so stably.

    NuBus Processor Upgrade Hardware revamp?

Thanks! As I said before, I'm no EE but that looks pretty straightforward... if you can get the connectors.

    NuBus Processor Upgrade Hardware revamp?

Completely understood; I'm running 8.6 on it and the only time I really notice that it's a bit slow is when using things like Classilla (which may be the fault of the AAUI being hobbled at 10Mb). I haven't gotten too far into rebuilding my software library since I picked up this thing *mumble*...

    NuBus Processor Upgrade Hardware revamp?

Got a response back from Sonnet saying that they don't have the schematics for the flat flex and case for the Sonnet AV/HPV Card Video Adapter Kit. Haven't heard anything from Newer Tech.

Advice on PB150 repair - Hella cracked plastic and sadness, but working device.

I've been working on my own Powerbook 150 repair (replaced HD with a IDE2CF) and had the same problem with a bad battery that was about to start leaking badly. Found a replacement at (of all places) Walmart: Exell 2/V80H-FLAT. Only problem is that it doesn't have leads, it has tabs so you either...

    NuBus Processor Upgrade Hardware revamp?

I've been puttering around with my Powermac 7100/66 and while they're a steadfast beast, it's a bit on the slow side. After finding a couple of PDS-mounted processor upgrades on eBay, I've kinda noticed that you can find the processor upgrade cards but never the chassis and flat flex cabling...
