    Can anyone ID this RAM?

It says “Mac Memory Inc.” “Max Plus” 1986 on the back. Is it for a Mac Plus? SE? Something else? Helping ID it for a friend. Thank you.

Making a PC video card work in a PowerPC?

Sorry I’m just getting back to this. I agree, as usual circuitboards posts are always splendid. It answered my question and gave me a lot to digest. Also Thank you Byrd for the heads up that the card I pointed to would be a headache to convert, what cards would fair easier and what type of rig...

Making a PC video card work in a PowerPC?

Seems any good PowerPC compatible “Mac Edition” AGP (and PCI) video card (64GB, 128GB etc) out there are exponentially higher in cost than their PC counterpart. (See example below). Is there a way for an avg user/layperson like myself to make one of these work in, say, a G4 GE? If so can...

Procedure to load OS9 on separate partition after OSX

So, major breakthrough on this. Turns out I had what looks like 3 things going on that had to be rectified. 1) I wasn’t checking the “locked” box on the iso before burning. I’m learned on the MacGarden comments for the 9.2.1 page that this will make a coaster every time if it’s not checked. 2)...

    Apple-branded "Fast Ethernet 10/100BaseT card" (PCI) "SA0025"

You're correct about the Tome extractor. I used it to get usb extensions installed when I installed an OS without the card installed. Problem is it looks like all the Ethernet extensions are still there but I’d need a definitive list of what to look for from Someone to confirm.

Procedure to load OS9 on separate partition after OSX

So part of the problem is I don’t have an OS 9 Disk that will actually boot. I slow 1x burned a 9.0 and a 9.2.2. using MacGarden offerings but Neither will boot holding down C. It tries then kicks out and moves on the next good OS which is OS 10.4. I will try your link to get a 9.2.1. I’ll be...

Procedure to load OS9 on separate partition after OSX

Ok. I’m going to start over w this SSD and use my modern Mac to partition and restore. One problem I always have though - no matter what I chose in a modern Mac for format, the legacy macs never recognize the partitions and want me to ignore or initialize. Is this a feature and not a bug...

Procedure to load OS9 on separate partition after OSX

Hello, I thought I knew how to do this but it’s not working for me. System: G4 Gigabit/ 500Gb SATA SSD (IDE-SATA Adapted. Pins set to “Slave”) 6 Gb IDE (“Master”) /500 MB RAM. SSD Partition scheme: 77 Gb (OS 10.4) 30 Gb (Set aside for OS9) 10 Gb (10.4 Boot load) 10 Gb (Set aside for OS9 boot...

    Apple-branded "Fast Ethernet 10/100BaseT card" (PCI) "SA0025"

if I could be permitted to hijack this thread a bit - has anyone on here gotten this card working on a 6400/6500/Tam? I still haven’t been able to get Ethernet on my 6500 (see previous post here). The card discussed here is for sale on eBay for $30. one main problem unrelated to the card...

Apple TV to G4 Tower Hack?

Is there any conceivable way to get a G4 Tower (Gigabit Eth) to accept and drive an Apple TV box (or Amazon Fire, Roku, etc) I realize this probably means jailbreaking the box (lemme know if that’s not allowed to discuss on here) as well as some sort of PCI video card with HDMI out. (If such...

Need help getting Ethernet/Internet on my PM6500

Thank you. Do you by chance have a source for this editor that’s for OS9 or modern OSX? Only copies I can find are early versions of OSX which I’m not set up for anywhere. Went on the way back machine to quadrivio .com and couldn’t find anything there even. NEVERMIND. Looks like I found a...

Need help getting Ethernet/Internet on my PM6500

Ok. Well that gives me hope & courage. Thanks for that! I will seek out an 8169. Do the letters after 8169 matter? I see 8169, 8169S & 8169SC as options on eBay. that said, why on earth would my TCP/IP no longer have Ethernet as an option? Would a faulty driver delete that somehow AND make my...

Need help getting Ethernet/Internet on my PM6500

Oh I definitely know they are the preferred option but too rich for my blood 🫣. I know I’ve read that PCI cards can work too but there’s not a lot of info out there on it. I’m hoping this $20 solution works vs $200 to $300...

Need help getting Ethernet/Internet on my PM6500

Bought a Realtek RTL8139D NIC card for my PCI slot on advice that that card will run on PB&J if you stick it in. Installed it. Got a green LED saying I’ve got power. System profiler sees the card. Card name: pci3030 ,5032. Card model and rom: not available. Card revision: 16. Card vendor...

The Great Gazelle PCI Hack Thread, Part 2

Well sure enough. I deleted/reformatted that FW drive with disk utilities on a modern Mac then tried again. It mounted as unrecognized and asking if I wanted to initialize it. Did that and bam I now have a ~400Mb/s ext drive! Only nit, and it’s probably an anomaly with the drive is it isn’t...

The Great Gazelle PCI Hack Thread, Part 2

Holy forking shirt balls. It works! Well the usb side does for sure. Great progress. Idk what you’re patch does but it’s making USB sausage now. plugged in an old 500Gb Western Digital USB/FireWire drive and got nothing on the FireWire side tho it also wouldn’t mount via FireWire on my G3...

The Great Gazelle PCI Hack Thread, Part 2

Welp. Got a new cheapo FireLink Opti type card in today (very similar to the Keyspan version I tried previously) AND decided to try all sorts of USB devices. System profiler still barely recognizes the card AKA no Card Model No Card ROM () but Sure enough part of the problem was the test thumb...

The Great Gazelle PCI Hack Thread, Part 2

it’s so helpful to hear that there’s really no core difference between the 3 patch versions so that can be ruled out as a source of the disconnect. I’m thankful there’s folks like you with training and brains to understand how the sausage is made on these things because I for one have no clue...

The Great Gazelle PCI Hack Thread, Part 2

I’ll probably have more to add to this here comment once I get this patch loaded up on my scsi and added to my 6500 but I wanted to jump right in and say thank you very much for solving the mystery of why that MacGarden guy got this working. Different card. Case closed. Also for your amplifying...
