i finally made it work. 3.86 for 81 and 3.83 for 7.6 and 7.5 i think. I put a docker with netatalk and can connect successfully to it. I do have an issue that for some reason i can't create folders but i can read and write otherwise. A guide for macintosh networking with modern...
well, i can only enter the IP for Appleshare server in OS 8.1, in 7.5.3 and 7.6 i can't find an option that let's me do it.
But i run in to this, any ideas on what it could be?
I have a QNAP NAS with AFP enabled. Is there an easy way to know if that uses Netatalk or a particular AFP version? Also how do you enter the IP in the AppleTalk control Panel in the Mac?
well yes, that is on my list. I will do the overclocking. I also happen to have a one of those QuadDoublers, it runs but it gets very hot (this one does not have a fan, just a heatsink) and after a while the computer crashes....guessing some sort of temperature protection
I have my Q605 working fine with open transport 1.3 on my 7.5.3 system. It gets an address via DHCP with ethernet. On another freshly installed image with 8.1 i can't get TCP/IP to get the DHCP server address. Not even in static address works. Any ideas of why it would not work under...
Hi all, i have replaced my Q605 CPU with the one i had in my broken 840av. So it is running at 25Mhz WITH FPU. The Q605 is not listed in the compatibility list for A/UX. Is it dead in the water or is there anything that can be done to install it with some workaround?
Hi, i have my Quadra 605 now back from storage and it is working great. I upgraded the RAM to 132MB which is an overkill but for $19.995, why not :)
I have blueSCSI and can boot from multiple OS versions. Found that the best OS for this machine seems to be 7.5.3, it runs faster and very...
I could probably do that. Which will require some work to setup the address and data buses into a big LA that i could probably use at work. But what do we know about memory maps for the board architecture. I guess you could see if the CPU comes out of reset and if fetching data from...
Do you know what was the typical POST sequence of a 68k mac? Another thing i want to try is the reset circuit and the timing of the RST pins on the ICs that can be identified, all based on the BOMARC schematics, maybe it is a dead ASIC and that will be the sad end here
did some more work on VRs and oscillators, all seems to be working as expected. I am thinking on replacing the on-board VRAM. Does anyone has a mac with no onboard VRAM, does anyone knows if a failure on VRAM will result in no chime/no video ?
well, finally today i got some time to spend with the machine. I did some good isopropyl cleaning. no changes on symptoms. Here is what i tried and have found so far by following the schematics:
All the on board regulators seem ok, i can measure directly on the regulators the +5 and -5V...
this is great. thanks for the link, it is a great starting point, i will start some probing and will upload some pics of the board, will do an isopropyl cleaning as well and report back
i'll take another close look, and post some pictures. What would be the best method to clean the whole board? i see people dipping the boards in ultrasonic cleaners and other "submerging" methods, any recommedations? i cleaned it with 99% isopropyl and a toothbrush on specific spots
Hi all, first post here. I rescued an abandoned Quadra840av. When you press the power button, the LED turns on, power supply comes up, but no chime.
I went ahead and recapped it with tantalums, found leakage in most electroytics, but not too bad. One trace was corroded and i bridged it...
