This is very fascinating. I do agree with everything here. Clearly a Macintosh Portable display and 140/170 keyboard. The date code is very interesting because this was just after the release of the original M5120 Portable but seemingly before the M5126 was released. Seems like something that...
Have you tried booting this without extensions (shift on boot)? I've had some weird prototypes that really don't like extensions and freak out when they are enable. Just a thought.
Definitely sounds like the battery to me. These machines are so finicky without a very stable battery. I've had all sorts of issues that I couldn't solve only to figure out they were nearly all battery related. The backlit model also seem to be a lot more temperamental, assuming because of the...
Artmix is legit. I waited over a year to get them, and had honestly forgot, then checked the mail one day and they were all there. He could have stiffed me, and I wouldn't have had any recourse given the time with PayPal limits but he followed through on what I bought.
Here's some pics of my boards.... I think the one that was fully working/booting is missing the HD at the moment and the backup of said HD. Out on loan to a fellow 68ker
My quest but sadly this site's changed a few times so I think a lot of things were lost. Pretty disappointing overall but it is what it is. Ill try to snap some pics of the PEX I've got here.
If I recall... very fuzzy. I think both of mine have different chimes. The one that @blitter has is fully operational. I think/recall it freezes on startup but if you reset the finder it will come to life. There are some fairly nutty files on mine from what I recall as well. I think blitter was...
Hey everyone. I've got a PowerBook I'm trying to restore. The screen flickers on, but no backlight and/or image I can see. I'm fairly sure it's the actual display but don't know what screen I need to replace it. Any info is greatly appreciated, and if someone has one lying around, I'd be happy...
Thanks for all your help/guidance. I'll probably reach out to some of the people you all recommended. I don't want to mess anything up. I'm really good with hardware but incredibly poor with the software side of things.
I've attempted to "quit" what looks like the application the W.A.L.T. is...
Well guys, thanks or your help again! I serious appreciate you all very much and your deep knowledge/expertise. I can now safely say two things:
1) I got the HD working!
2) I have the only working W.A.L.T. in the world. It's really a goofy piece of hardware.
BUT
I cannot seem to figure out a...
So I was able to work out a deal on that W.A.L.T. The seller was really cool. I've never seen one in this color before. After some poking around I realized a PB 140 charger would work to start it up. That being said, I cleaned it up and bit and plugged it in. It turns on... sadly the hard drive...
Thanks for sharing the facebook link. That's identical to the ones I have (beige). The clear one, with the Macintosh logo, was just a label over the original Profile label. I peeled the Macintosh label back/took it off. The units I have included the power supply, which is internal, and on the...
