Booting iMac G3 from firewire dvd-rw

Hi, I am interested in purchasing a LaCie d2 external fw400 dvd-rw so I can boot OS 9.2 from a CD and install it on an iMac G3 slot-loading 700. My questions are, will it boot from this drive externally? If so, how do I boot from the drive (is it opt or T)? and can this drive burn and read...

Fastest browser for PPC 10.3.9 and above

I came across this browser that is the fastest text and picture browser I have used. Links2. It blows any standard browser out of the water with the exception that it doesn't run javascript (it won't hang on clicking on a link though). Requires X11 which is on the install cd (doesn't require...

What is this wart on the front of this G3?

Isn't it like that thing they put on R2D2 in Star Wars to control him? A regulator? Ask the jawas.

How to get 4.5G ram in an iMac G5 iSight

Bummer. You could replace them if you can find them. They're a little tricky to open but finding the parts would be the challenge. Not sure if usedmac.com would have them. Ifixit has a pretty good repair guide.

How to get 4.5G ram in an iMac G5 iSight

Once I got the right stick it is a pretty good performance difference. Scrolling the web is much smoother, visuals etc. I think the OS can really use the extra memory. Let me know how it works for you!

How to get 4.5G ram in an iMac G5 iSight

While it does say this on everymac's website for these two computers, getting this memory will allow you to exceed the 2.5G limit for ram, 4 GB Samsung 2Rx4 PC2-6400U-666 I recently purchased a stick off of ebay for $15 and it works well. Cheers, Jeff

Info on a PB G3 Bronze Keyboard

What's more is that the G4 and G3 power adapters have the same part number. Go figure.

Info on a PB G3 Bronze Keyboard

There are two different yoyos though. You want the one with the bigger (wider) tip. On ebay these are usually more expensive (about $115) unfortunately. Also. Not to be confused with the iBooks g4 yoyos which have a narrower tip.

    Powermac G4 10.4 Boot Issues

Usually, usb needs a special command on these in open firmware to boot. Burn a cd. Its easier! : )

Get an old Mac on the web?

Here is a link to a site that uses a Web Rendering Proxy on a modern computer to get an older Mac to surf the web. I haven't tried it so I can't vouch for its usefulness but it looks like a good solution to surfing the net on a classic mac. https://github.com/tenox7/wrp

thermal paste for a g4 graphite?

Hello,   I am replacing the logic board and cpus in my dual 500 gigabit g4 and am wondering if I need to use thermal paste for the cpus.  From the heatsink I took off of my board I just see a rectangular piece of black tape/plastic (very thin, ?) on the heatsink and a small piece of plastic...
