Thanks for the reply!
I'm quite familiar with the Color Classic disassembly and the discharge of the CRT, so no problems there.
I find it funny that this is the first time cleaning the connector dawned on me, so I gave it a shot with a toothbrush and some denatured.
Unfortunately, it still...
About a year or two ago, I purchased a dead Macintosh Color Classic from eBay as a new project system to fix up and keep in my collection.
As of now, everything on the computer works with no issues besides one thing, the floppy drive. I've already cleaned and lubed the drive and it should work...
Alright, I’ve just finished replacing the 2 components on the board. The charred one, and the other identical one just in case it was dead too.
Unfortunately, it still seems to sad Mac a bit but not as often and it still won’t run off the battery. It also still won’t run off the hard drive...
Ah, perfect! Thanks! I'll update everyone when the parts have arrived and have been installed. I'll be replacing both of them just in case the other went bad too.
One other thing I wanted to say. I was wondering if this burnt looking component on the board, Q16, would also be an issue. It looks and smells burnt compared to other similar components on the board so I’m thinking of replacing it. What do you guys think?
That's a shame that the Hybrid Board is dead but I kinda expected that. I think the last thing I'll try is to buy that battery @LaPorta listed on the previous page. I'll update you guys when I finally finish the project.
Would there be any possible way to get a replacement Hybrid Board?
Thank...
Thank you! I probed the pins on the chips you told me to do and I don’t think I found the issue. On Q4, it reads 4.9v and rarely 5v however this shouldn’t be that big of an issue. Meanwhile on both sound chips, the highest voltage I could get was 11.5v. I’m not sure if this is a huge issue but...
Alright, I’ve cleaned the computer and baked the PBC. The only difference it seems to make now is that it’ll always show signs of life when given power and I don’t have to wait a couple minutes anymore. It does still sad Mac 2-3 times before it’ll actually give me a flashing folder and it’ll...
I've just finished the recap and the computer seems to sad mac rarely now. The computer won't power up on just the battery and when plugging in the hard drive, the computer screen will flicker with the violent unnatural clicks. I'm able to boot it from floppy but it either restarts during the...
