Hi guys,
I am the proud owner of a Lombard and a PDQ. Sadly, the PDQ had snapped hinges when I bought it(which they're famous for, so not entirely unexpected), but weirdly so did the Lombard. As I'm unable to find replacements, and I'd rather not destroy a working machine to fix another, I was...
Hi guys,
I wanted to stick a flashed 7800GS into my Powermac G5 AGP, but it needs molex power. Do I just need to run a long splitter from the DVD drive, or is there a hidden power port on the motherboard somewhere?
I'm afraid I don't have a guide or parts list for you, but I might still be able to help you a bit. You will need to remove the electrolytics, of which you can find the correct values on the side of the capacitors. After having done that, you need to clean the board with isopropyl alcohol. You...
Hi guys,
I recently acquired a Powerbook Duo 230, and it seems to be dead. When I plug in the power supply and try to turn it on, nothing happens. The main battery hasn't leaked and I used my known good Powerbook G3 PSU, which has the right voltage and more than enough amperage to power it. I...
Hi guys,
Today I picked up a Powerbook 520c in great shape. The only thing wrong with it is a broken charger cable (which I'll fix sometime in the next few weeks) and a missing hinge cover. It seems like somebody used it on a different one on which the hinge cover had broken thanks to a broken...
This is great guys! Does anyone have the full model of the display clutch cover though? I just bought a Powerbook 520c and it's clutch cover is completely missing.
Well, I found the issue. The display cable has ripped a bit thanks to a broken clutch cover. The left five traces are broken (the ones seperated by a bit more plastic than the rest). So I guess the next question I'm asking is, does anyone have a display cable for me?
Thanks for the link! I think I might leave this one for a professional though, because I don't think my soldering skills are up to par to actually be able to recap it.
I don't know. It has been stored in a sunny place I think, judging from how greenish it looks and how all rubber parts feel like snot. I picked it up from a house clearer, but he didn't really seem like a guy who was very careful with sensitive electronics. The PSU it came with is absolutely...
Hi,
My powerbook 100 has an issue where it only shows a dark screen, with a snowflake like glitch in the middle (picture included). The PSU is a known good one, as it powers my Powerbook 150 just fine, so it's probably dead caps. Which part of the machine should I have a look at first?
